I'm excited to share with all of you, my fellow bloggers, a hidden gem that may be unfamiliar to you - a beautiful spring. Would you like to join me on my journey as I uncover the wonders of this cold and enchanting spring?
This spring has been preserved for many years and its scenic view is truly captivating. As I stepped into the water, I couldn't resist the temptation to swim and experience its refreshing chilliness. The water level reached up to my thighs, which makes it a perfect spot for practicing swimming.
Unlike the well-known Banyan Spring, which we used to call Guinanon Dako, this spring remains unknown to most. Both springs are situated in the same location in Maslog, Tabogon, Cebu - my birthplace. The water here is incredibly clean, fresh, and invigorating. We love to swim in it, especially during high tide.
In the past, the locals would wash their clothes and take baths in this spring when the tide was low. Because the spring water connects to the sea, it contains a slight saltiness.
During the summer season, we all gather at Guiwanon Gamay, a smaller spring, to enjoy swimming and relieve ourselves from the scorching weather. It seemed like we were in paradise during this time. We laughed, we talked, and we shared our foods with our neighbors and relatives during lunch time.
The water is just like a mirror in which we can see our reflection. I know anyone will love to swim and feel the coldness of the water.
The spring was surrounded by Nipa Palm, which was being sheltered by crabs and alimango. Other men, during low tide, will try to catch mudfish and crabs for food. There are also seashells attached to the rocks in the water. Which sometimes we pick and bring home for food.
Now that I got married, I tried to visit the place, and it was so lonely to stay in the spring because nobody was there but my daughters and me. People in that place have their own water connection, which is tap water, and have monthly bills. But if the tap water has trouble and will not flow for a couple of days, they have to go back to Guiwanon Gamay to get some water.
Naturally made by God so that each one of us can appreciate the wonder of its beauty. It is a place where you can feel the tranquility and the coldness of the air and water. Free from pollution, noise and commotion.
If you are looking for a place to relax, you can visit this Guiwanon gamay for free.
Since it is undeveloped, there is no road that a vehicles can pass. We should walk there, about 1 kilometer from the provincial road.
The barangay officials tried to develop the place, but it did stop because they needed to find a landowner first who would donate the right of way from the provincial road to the spring so that vehicles could go closer into the spring.
Tourists, visitors and friends are always coming back to Banyan Spring to experienced the coldness of the water. Maybe if this small spring that I showed to you will be developed soon the entrance of Banyan Spring will be low down. Because the people will have to choose between the two springs, I know some of us will also visit the small spring if it only gets develop. But it will take more time, effort, and money to realize.
Many tourist haven't been familiar with this place, which is why it hasn't been that well known. They prefer the well-known Banyan Spring Resort, which is more attractive than this little Guiwanon. Banyan Spring Resort is beautiful yes, but it's a little pricey for some other tourist, though it is worth the money when you go inside.
But nevertheless, Guiwanon gamay is still the same. If you can't afford the money or budget to relax on cool, refreshing water just like you wanted to feel at Banyan Spring Resort, you can still relax and enjoy the water on Guiwanon gamay, though it is not that attractive as Banyan, it still has the same cool and clean water as you expected at Banyan Spring.
For so many years, this little Guiwanon brought back a nostalgic memory when I was young, and today it's still the same as ever: the Guiwanon provide us with the water that we need for everyday use in life, and in return, we also preserved it with our care. The only ones who visit here are the people who lived nearby.
I hope you enjoyed reading my blog. Until next time.❤️
