Moose Monday

Here is a mule deer I found right outside my door for this #moosemonday by @shasta

This was the shot I got of her right as I opened the door and poked my zoom lens out.

I snuck out a bit closer without making a sound. Of course she was looking right at me but I didn't want to appear like a threat and have her run away.

p2254914_copy.jpg
Finally she realized I wasn't a threat and went back to looking for food.

p2254913_copy.jpg
I wonder what on earth she is looking for? Maybe she eats certain dried up leaves in the yard? Its still too early for any new grass shoots to be growing yet.

Later on in the day I took a hike down a mostly dry river and saw a couple more mule deer.

p2224500_copy.jpg
These ones were much more skittish and took off quickly. Now as I see them running away I realize they are white tailed deer.

p2224502_copy.jpg
Mule deer's tails aren't big and white like these guys. Also mule deer have larger ears than these ones.

Here's what the deer were after an artesian well that runs constantly. This is a great spot to wait for wildlife to come by looking for a drink in the dry desert. I was hoping to see a pack of javelina here but instead I found white tailed deer.

That's all for now happy #moosemonday :-)

I was lucky to have seen it out the corner of my eye in the window and just stepped out the front door and got the photo.

Excellent. sounds good, have a nice day bro.

Those are much larger than Deer here!

Do you have white tail over there? The white tail are just a bit smaller than mule deer.

They might be...
Also environment may play a role...
More or less they are stuck on this Island, and with the people and Coyotes they are squeezed, so their living area is not as large as one would think.
Until the neighbor put up the fence they was hanging around in the yard at night and mornings.

An island habitat is tricky with deer, they will eat all the food if they don't have predators there and starve to death. I suspect the coyotes might keep them in check a bit.

I am sure!
Was just outside and heard them howling!
They actually just put out a warning to watch your dogs and cats because of the Coyotes!

There are tons of coyotes in Arizona as well, they love snagging people's dogs and cats. Domesticated dogs think they are another dog to play with and usually follow a female back to a pack where they get attacked and eaten.

Wow!
I would not have thought that they have a plan and all,
Though I have to admit they are intelligent!

Great photos. I love the "action" shot with the running deer kicking up dust :) We have white tail deer in Vermont. Where I lived in California we had black tailed deer which is basically a smallish mule deer. The California deer were pretty tame because I lived in an urban area. There are lots of deer hunters in Vermont and the deer are very skittish. I've seen deer tracks and scat behind my house but haven't seen the deer that leave them yet :(

Those wild white deer didn't want to hang around a photographer lol. I wish I could have gotten closer for the action shot. I remember seeing some tamish black tail deer in glen ellen CA, back then I didn't have my zoom lens yet, those guys probably get fat eating all the wine grapes from the orchards there.

I'm guessing the Vermont area is pretty rural right? The deer get to be super wild there. Here in Illinois they are super tame and could care less if they see you walking in the forest. We have a bit of an overpopulation of them here and with that comes the excess amount of deer ticks.

Cali blacktail deer. And I have a crappy zoom so these deer are "closer than they appear in photo" haha

Aha you got some with some points on them maybe a 4 and a 6 pointer? I always wonder if they would come closer if I had an apple with me. I doubt it but the tame ones seem to be looking for food of some kind. Or they are just trying their freeze method of blending in with the foliage.

Wow amazing is it a wild animal covered in forest bushes

I hid behind the mesquite trees to get closer for the photo.

Luar biasa fotonya sangatlah bagus cara pengambilan fotonya tentu saja menggunakan lensa yang panjangnya

The zoom lens definitely helps.

The picture is amazing even though zoomed in, the picture doesn't break, the quality is still good and cool

Yay! 🤗
