I recently talked about the first spring flowers that make April in northern latitudes more colorful. But the first flowers are fragile and pale; they are either white, light lilac, or other pastel hues. The real bright color comes in the second wave of blooming, and the main decoration of this time I consider the Scilla siberica.
The Scilla siberica is a perennial plant that begins blooming at the same time as new grasses appear, but earlier than the leaves on the trees. Scilla siberica time in our city is the first weeks of May.
The Scilla siberica are planted in flowerbeds quite often, but I believe that the best place to admire this flower is the Mikhailovsky Garden. Michailovsky Garden is located in the center of St. Petersburg, near the Mikhailovsky Palace, where the Russian Museum works.
In this park there are always a lot of people. It's a great place to walk through the alleys and sit on a bench near the pond. Someone simply take the opportunity to walk through the park from one street to the next, adding variety and fun to their usual route.
Lawns of Scilla siberica and other spring flowers attract the attention of everyone walking in the park. In addition to the Scilla siberica, there are other early flowers growing in the beds. You can see another Scilla - Scilla Chionodoxa, Ornithogalum umbellatum with white petals, crocuses (but crocuses in May are already fading). Other flowers are beginning to bloom - those that like warmth more and will please us throughout May and June.

Beautiful! We call them bluebells and white bells here and they are one of my favorites! What gorgeous pictures you show and Michailovsky Garden is lovely at this time of year. Of course, you know how I love the architecture in St. Petersburg. How fortunate to live in the heart of such historical and architectural landmarks.
Have a wonderful day!
