Hello Needle Workers...
It's a new year and cheers to all the good projects we all would be showcasing here.
I made plans to make a recap of my favorite projects for 2024 but then I noticed I didn't share this particular outfit I made last year. How it skipped my mind is still unfathomable but then it's better late than never.
While going through my archive on my drive I noticed I had already saved this images scheduled for a post but somehow it didn't make it here.
It's a black dress with and an open-back which I made for Chikamso.
Chikamso is my latest client who walked into my office the first few days in December.
She was referred by a loyal client and they both came along. According to her , she had heard how good I was with my stitches and she wanted to experience the Amie's touch in her dress.
One thing I'm certain of is, if you're good, people will look for you wherever you may be and find you.
No wonder the scripture says "Have you seen a man skillful at his work? He will stand before kings and not common men."
Anytime people come to my office through referrals, I am even more encouraged to give them the best.
I decided to bless her with my signature through my design although the style was demanded from her.
The front of this dress looks like a very cooperate dress. It has a collar and it's a sleeveless simple dress.
The fabric is called the crepe fabric and it's a very easy fabric to work with. One can make use of any size needle but I made use of size 14 because I didn't want my stitches to be visible.
It has belt holes which can be used alongside a readymade belt with or scarfs to add spice to the outfit.
I remember she ordered this dress as a beachwear for the festive period , which was why it has a sexy back.
It's a very easy-to-make outfit which required little lining to work with.
The upper bodice was cut with her bust measurements and about three inches allowance.
The collar stand was done with about 8inches folded into two. Few buttons to spice up the look and a matching thread.
The lower bodice was cut as a flare with the sides lower than the front and back.
It was actually a fun and crazy project at the same time π. I remember how exhausted I was making the dress, cause I had so much on my plate during the festive season but somehow I managed to finish this dress.
As at the time I took pictures of this dress it was 90% ready, just some finishing touch here and there and a good press to bring it to perfection but all that gladdened my heart was the fact that Chikamso loved the dress.
I haven't started new projects for 2025 but I went to the market last weekend to get my tailoring items and some new fabrics which I'll be needing for my first few projects.
This is the end result of the dress and you know how much I love black dresses. I think it's a must for every lady to own one in her closet. Until I share my latest designs.. Stay safe out there.
Images used belong to me, outfit cut and sewn by me.
