Hello Needle workers..
The year is almost wrapping up and it's been a beautiful and challenging journey in this profession but of course, we don't give up, we keep thriving and keep sharing our project here in the community.
Something funny last week, my mom and I bought a fabric with no particular style in mind, we both had different plans for the outfit for me, I wanted to make a cowl neckline top and buy a plain lycra fabric for the skirt but my mom wanted a cowl kaftan dress haha.
It was the survival of the fittest, who has persuasive skills more? Well, along the line I gave up on trying to convince her of what I wanted and went ahead to make her the cowl kaftan dress.
I really loved the fabric but since it was just 3yards it wasn't going to be enough for both of us so I let her have it all.
This fabric is a very special kind of crepe and so I proceeded to cut.
I placed the fabric on the floor and began to place the mark on the fabric, I extended the sleeve by about 12 inches for it to form the cowl sleeve and I made a neckline for the outfit and made a circular design at the middle of the neckline.
Here, I have already cut it out and made use of a peach colour bias to make the neckline pop and then I felt I needed to enhance the simple dress with stones.
I went to the sewing machine to join the pieces together, I began by turning the neckline with the bias first and then I joined the shoulder to shoulder, the front bodice and the back bodice together and joined the sides together.
Here, the dress is done with a very simple and fancy neckline and immediately I finished making the outfit, I started to love it as I have made plans to share this dress with my mom.
If she finds out my plan, I am sure she'll hide this dress where I can't even imagine, hehe.
Well, the outfit came out looking classy and simple but what style did you think would have popped better, mine or that of mom?
Here is the up-close view of the cowl sleeve and how beautiful it looks, this dress can be worn to any occasion as it is not a selective kind of fabric or style.
All images used are mine, cut and sewn by me.

Thank you so much for the beautiful feedback.
Well I would have loved the idea of cowl top with plain fabric skirt part but this is still classy , seeing how you have added beautiful finishing touches to the neckline..

How sweet of you to give all of the fabric to your mom. The story you shared about your different ideas made me laugh 😄.
The stones added to that neckline really gave it that extra pop. It’s such a beauty…and that fabric 😍! I can’t leave without mentioning how I love those sleeves too. I’m sure your idea would have also turned out amazing! Maybe we’ll see it soon when you find your next favorite fabric 😃?!
