Hello prestigious member of the community.
I made plans on sharing an amazing outfit I made over the week but something else came up today and I thought of sharing it with you all instead.
We are one big family and as such, it's never out of place to share our needle work experience or fashion related experience with one another.
Since I'm just getting back from school, I thought of sharing my ordeal today. Although,it's been a very tiring yet fulfilled day. I would love you to guess what I learned in school today?
Fashion illustration. Yes! and I'm way too excited because I love art and fashion.
Art has been linked to fashion for a very long time. Every outfit we make is a work of art and begins from the mind. Where the mind's eyes get very creative and imaginative.
Fashion illustration helps a designer to interpret styles on paper or sketch pad before turning it into a reality. I've seen how beautiful piece of clothing spring up from a mere sketch and that's what I learned.
Do you know what wowed me the most? The fact that fashion illustration requires measurements like a real basic bodice. The head, neck, waist, hip, knee, ankle and even the size of outfit all have their measurements.
It was quite challenging to input the measurements accurately but after the struggle the sketch came out nicely.
Would I be turning my sketch into a reality? Yes of course but not so soon as I have a lot of outfits to make.
The things one will be needing for fashion illustration are:
Pencil
Tape measurements
Eraser
Sketch pad
Ruler and crayons.
If you watched the video closely you'll see how I began the sketch gradually before clothing ny muse.
I'm so grateful I took up the fashion course to upgrade my skill. Now, I can express my creativity on my croqui as much as I want before bringing my design to life.
I think every designer should have a little idea on this too, because some client can come in with a style in mind and expect the designer to interpret it on a paper. These little things keep your clients glued to you and keep them coming back everytime.
This illustration can also be turned into a 3D piece of artwork where the muse wears a real fabric even while on paper.
You stitch on paper using a huge gum, beads and any applique to embellish your muse.
I'm so proud to be a designer.. Fellow designers, I know you're proud too, because this profession is so sweet and enjoyable.
