Hello everyone at Needlework Monday! A big hello to this wonderful community of sewing lovers. Today I want to share with you the process of making a beautiful bra or crop top, a garment that combines style and comfort. Throughout this guide, I will show you the detailed steps I will follow to create this unique piece, ideal for any occasion.
Making a bra or crop top is a creative and rewarding process that allows you to customize a unique and comfortable garment. Through meticulous steps, from preparing the fabric to placing the waistband, you achieve a final result that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional. This project not only fosters sewing skills, but also provides the opportunity to experiment with different fabrics and designs. In the end, the effort invested translates into a garment that perfectly fits your needs and personal style.

Paso nro 1
Paso nro 1
First, I folded the fabric always towards the elastic on the sides. Placing the pattern, I cut the piece twice, since I wanted the bra or top to be double. Then, I did the same procedure with the back: I placed the fabric in a double layer and proceeded to cut. Afterwards, I cut the waistband that will be placed under the breasts and, of the same width, I cut several bias strips for the straps.

With all the pieces cut and organized, I was ready to sew. For this, I used two machines: the overlock and the straight machine. I placed the two front pieces together and the back piece, and sewed along the sides.

Next, I sewed the bias together joining the two front pieces and closed the bias.

After sewing the bias tape on the front, I started sewing the bias tape that would form the straps. I started from the front, leaving enough bias tape for the straps. Then, I sewed everything together with the straight machine and pinned it to the back.

To create the gathering at the front, I used a crochet hook to pull the ends of the straps through two small holes I made. I pulled out the two ends and proceeded to sew down the middle, being careful not to step on the straps with the seam. This seam served as a guide. Then, I sewed along the sides and adjusted the straps so that they were gathered, forming a bow.

Finally, I made some final touches, and now I have a bra or crop top made. I hope you like making this garment as much as I do. I hope to continue sharing more garments and sewing ideas with you.
