Hello everyone
Greetings to you all on this beautiful day, I hope you are all having great time since the year began, for those who have resume back to work, I wish you all the best and a productive and fruitful year. It is my pleasure today to bring to you in this great community the making of this wedding guest outfit of a wrapper gown with flare sleeves I made for myself for my cousin's wedding. As a close member of the family, I and my husband were to attend the wedding of my cousin and the color of the day chosen by the couple was red, gold and white, the family decided to go with white and red head gear but for me, I don't like red and aside that my white outfit was not classic enough to wear to such wedding, so I and my husband decided to go for a gold outfit, surprisingly, it was the same color as the bride and groom.
With the fabric I got, I made a wrapper gown with flare sleeves with princess dart bustier bodice, it looks so nice on me with a matching plain color fabric for my husband as well to make his outfit.
Cutting and sewing process
From the lace fabric I bought, I cut out the front and back bodice for the lower part of the gown with satin for the inner
For the wrapper on the front part of the gown, the front part was placed on a single laid lace fabric as I cut out the wrapper with 5" extension by the side, same shape of satin was cut out and sewn to it.
The satin was sewn and used to turn the front and back bodice inside out for neat finishing before it was sewn together with the side seam allowance as well as the wrapper to the front and it was set aside
For the upper bodice, firstly, I drafted out a princess dart bustier for the front and it was placed on the main fabric, satin, lining, and interfacing to cut out same shape.
I cut out a basic block bodice for the back with satin and lining.
The princess dart bustier for the front bodice were sewn together as well as the lining which was used to turn the neckline and the sides inside out.
The upper and lower bodice were sewn together and set aside as I processed to the making of the sleeves. For the sleeves, I measured and cut out a basic sleeve measuring 14"
To complete the length of my desired sleeves, I cut out 360° flare on the main fabric, satin, lining and interfacing, the interfacing was ironed on the satin before it was sewn to the main fabric and lining.
The flare was sewn to the hem of the basic sleeve and finally to the armhole circumference of the gown, every other part was neatly and carefully sewn and I have my beautiful outfit ready.
This is the final outcome of my outfit looking beautiful on my as I took pictures with the couple in the middle and my husband by the right with same color of outfit.
I hope you like the beautiful outcome of my outfit and how nice we all look at the wedding.
It look so great and beautiful on you.
