Hello beautiful people
Happy Monday and new week to you all on this beautiful day, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. It's the beginning of a new week and I believe you are prepared to achieve something great this week. It is another opportunity for us all in this community as usual to share our creativity here @needleworkmonday and I hope to learn from creative minds as well.
It is with great pleasure that I bring to you the making of this simple and beautiful outfit of a princess dart bustier with Yoke and gathered lower part outfit I made for myself for an event and I'm so happy with the beautiful outcome.
We were invited for an event but unfortunately, my husband was not available to attend the party, so I was asked to go represent the family, the event was fast approaching and the thought of what to wear came to my mind but when I searched through my wardrobe, there was nothing that interested me to wear, I didn't want to wear the outfit I had before then I thought of making something for myself, as a seamstress, that wouldn't be a problem, the choice of fabric and style to make was the major challenge, while thinking about that, I remembered I had this 5yards Kampala fabric I bought sometimes ago but was just kept there, having in mind that whatever I'm making, I have to make for my husband as well but this time, my outfit comes first before his 😃.
I searched through Pinterest and decided to make this simple style with combinations of another fabric just for me to use the remaining to make an outfit for my husband as well.
First was to cut out the lower part of the dress to be a gathered pleat using the waist circumference measurement by 2 with the front and back cut out separately.
I ran a long stitch on it and gathered it together
To get a perfect front upper bodice, I drafted a princess dart bustier pattern with yoke on a brown paper before it was transferred to the main fabric and it was cut out.
Same shape was cut out on the lining as well and sewn separately while the yoke was placed on a lace fabric to cut out the for the front and back.
I cut out the back bodice with zipper allowance and it was sewn together with lining.
The front bodice were sewn together as well with the lining before it was sewn with the back bodice to have a complete upper bodice.
The lower part of the dress was sewn together with the upper bodice with the sides seam allowance.
From the lace fabric, I cut out a basic long sleeve and added a small piece from the main fabric to the hem of the sleeves.
The sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference of the dress and my dress is ready.
I was so glad with the beautiful outcome, this is the how the dress looks on me as I wore it to the event.
In total I used 3yards from the main fabric while the remaining will be used to make an outfit for my husband.
