Hello needlework family
Greetings to you all from my sewing room, I hope you are all doing great just as I am today, it's been a great day out here with me having a great time with my sewing machine doing what I know how to do best, but before I share that, I will like to share with you the making of a beautiful small hand bag I made for myself to compliment my choir anniversary outfit using same fabric, it was so nice and I love the beautiful outcome so much that people that saw me with the bag compliment and appreciate my creativity.
The bag was made specifically for this outfit and I have decided to make more of matching hand bags for my different outfit, this will not be a problem since I have a lot of left over fabric to use.
Someone actually saw this and requested that I make something as nice as this for her which I will be making very soon, it is good to showcase our creativity regardless of what people think of it, I really love what I do so much.
Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process.
For this project, I used two types of fabric, a plain thick silver fabric and the left over from my choir anniversary fabric. I cut out 2 pieces of 12 x 9" from the plain fabric, 2 pieces of lining and interfacing.
The interfacing was ironed on the main fabric and it was folded into two, I marked 1" square on the side and 1" at the top inward and connected to the square shape.
The lines were cut off and I have this, which was later placed on the other piece as well as the lining to cut out same shape.
For the flip cover of the bag, I cut out 9 x 7.5" on the kampala fabric, it was folded in two and I marked 2" on the side and connected it to the mid point with a curve.
I ironed interfacing on it and it was used to cut out same shape of lining.
I placed the lining on the main fabric right side to right side and sew it in a U-shape, it was turned inside out and top stitched round
I took one piece of the plain fabric and placed the cover of the bag on it right side to right side on the mid point and sew on it straight with the lining on it as well.
The same process was repeated on the other side, then I placed the two together fabric to fabric and lining to lining.
All the sides were sewn together except the square shape that was cut out and an opening on the lining were it will be turned inside out.
The square shape opening that was cut out were also sewn together just as seen below.
It was turned inside out, the tip was top stitched round and I processed to make the handle.
For the handle, I cut out 13 x 4" folded it in two and in half, I sew on both sides and sew it on the cover with the handle tip folded in before sewing it down on the cover.
Finally, I used my hand needle and thread to attach a pressing buttons to the middle of the bag.
This is the final and beautiful outcome of the matching fabric hand bag I made for my choir anniversary outfit.
This is me in my outfit and matching hand bag in church.
That’s the one good thing about being a designer, you can make different outfits for yourself and accessorize it as you like. Your dress is lovely and so is your bag😃

So nice how you made a bag that matches your dress perfectly
