Hello everyone
Greetings to you all out there on this beautiful Monday, I hope you all had a great weekend with families and love ones, it's another beautiful week and I wish you all a productive and excellent week. I want to use this opportunity to wish you all a merry Christmas in advance as we all are preparing for the big day ahead which is just around the corner, I believe you are all busy with one creativity or the other for the Christmas celebration for family and friends. Today, I will be sharing with you the cutting and sewing process of a native top and trousers I made for my husband for a wedding using African print fabric.
As usual, this is a fabric sold by the bride to family and friends to grace her wedding, it's a six yards fabric we bought and I intend to sew it for myself and my husband, this is one thing I enjoy most being a seamstress, I have the opportunity to make use of the fabric we bought for both of us since I'm the one to make both outfit, this help me to create and design the outfit to my desire, usually, I make my husband's outfit first and the remaining fabric will be use to make something simple and nice for myself, this has helped us to cut cost on buying more fabric and cut cost on sewing. Making this top and trousers, I did the basic sewing with just a slant matching color fabric across the chest just to give it a nice design different from the previous ones I've made.
Cutting and sewing process.
The fabric was folded and I cut out the trousers with 2" added to the waist and hem for the loop and hem allowance
The pocket was cut and sewn to the trousers on both sides and the two trouser leg were sewn together
It was hem at the waist and I inserted a long rope made from the fabric in the loop to fasten the waist.
The trousers was done and I proceeded to the making of the top with same fabric.
The top was folded in 2 with the shoulder measurement plus 2" for the chest circumference measurement and the full length as well.
I cut out another piece with the front place on the folded piece to cut out the back with 4" added to the full length, it was slanted by 3" for the shoulder slope which was cut out.
I cut out the neck and armhole circumference with a little curve at the waistline.
I cut out facing for the front and back and sew it on the neckline.
The placket was cut out and sewn to the 8" opening on the center front
To make the slant across the chest, I cut out 4" of matching color fabric in a bias form and ironed an interfacing on it, it was folded on both sides and was sewn on the fabric across the chest.
The front and back were sewn together at the shoulder and I went ahead to cut out the sleeves.
The sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference the I sew on both sides with the side seam allowance and finally hem it with 2" at the full length.
This is the final and lovely outcome of the top and trousers outfit I made for my husband for a wedding using African print fabric.
My husband and his cousin at the wedding
I hope you like the final outcome as well as he did.
It's impressive to see a lady see women's clothes pretty well.
Well done and thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much sis, I'm just trying to be versatile.
Hubby would be so proud of you for being able to make his outfit, you did well dear.
You did an incredible job creating this outfit. The attention to detail, especially with the placket and slanted chest design, really stands out. Well done.
Thanks so much, I'm glad it came out really nice.
I do appreciate your comment and tireless support.
You are really doing well in men outfit my husband doesn’t trust me yet with his cloth but I will surprise him one day
Wow... I'm so glad to read this beautiful comment from you, well, let's say my husband actually gave me the courage to make his outfit, the first trial was just a top with an inferior material and it came out really nice even with some mistakes but he wore it like it was he's best. I will suggest you get the material and make one outfit for him and see what his comment will be like.
