Making a church anniversary outfit for my neighbor for Sunday service

Its a beautiful Monday #needleworkmonday and I wish you all a happy new month as we begin to march forward into greatness and greater achievement, I hope you all are doing great today with your creativity, looking forward to seeing beautiful post to learn from today from you all. It's another day for me to share with you all the making of this beautiful outfit I made for my neighbor last weekend for the celebration of their church anniversary which was celebrated yesterday.

It was a church anniversary and to celebrate this, they all paid for this particular fabric to be worn as uniform by members of church for the celebration, my neighbor brought the fabric of 6yards for herself and her husband so I had to cut out 3yards for the husband while the other 3yards will be used for the wife, she brought a style and asked me to sew same for her.

Cutting and sewing process

From the 3yards fabric, I cut out the lower part of the gown with was a straight cut with inverted slit at the back using her lower bodice measurement to cut the front and back with seam and zipper allowance.

It was then placed on a lining to cut out same shape, the lining was used to turned in inside out for neat finishing.

The front and back were sewn together with the side seam allowance and set aside.

I processed to the cutting of the upper bodice which was a princess dart bustier but first, it was drafted on a brown paper using the upper bodice measurement before it was transferred to the main fabric and lining.

I added warden to the bust area and it was sewn together with the seam allowance.

The lining was sewn together as well and it was used to turn the V-neckline before it was sewn together on both sides for neat finishing.

For the back bodice, I cut out a basic block bodice with conventional dart with seam and zipper allowance

I cut out same shape of lining to turn the neckline and both sides for neat finishing as well.

The front and back upper bodice were sewn together and I have a complete upper bodice.

The upper and lower bodice of the outfit were sewn together with the seam allowance.

I proceeded to the sleeves using the remaining fabric to cut out a puff sleeve with band of 5"

The sleeves were pleated on the band and sewn together.

The sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference and the zipper at the back as well, then i have this beautiful outfit.

I made a long piece from the left over fabric to serve as belt as she has requested and to add more beauty to the outfit, I fixed 2 buttons to the center front and it was looking nice.

I hope you like the simplicity and beautiful outcome of this dress just as my neighbor was so glad to see how lovely her outfit looks.
