Some lame people like to poison animals, cats and dogs, might them be damned for these poor animals...

Yes, dear @davideownzall , indeed; here it seemed like this behaviour had evolved, but it may even be that the Comune/ Municipio are "indirectly" poisoning the animals too, as they regularly put rat poison about the old town - not thinking about the cycle of nature and cats eating rats... It is such a sordid practise, when cats are - and have been - such an integral part of the ecology of the old town for so long... They keep the rat population in check.
