Hello, friends!
Last week was my hardest week, on Monday I had to lose one of my kitten, Do, and then yesterday morning, Re also left us forever. Recently the weather here had been extreme, and the feline distemper virus spread here, non of our pets could survive. The last survive, Re, already really in weak condition on Saturday evening, after he had been trying his best to survive and also with our help, but he also couldn’t survive. I don’t know whether you have pets or not, or have you ever, but losing pets is not an easy thing to deal with. Both mom and I broken hearted, we cried in the morning, and still talking about our kittens until now. Yesterday I couldn’t just stay in grief, I mean God loves them more than us, and our pets came from heaven, sent here to bring us some joy, and now, God wants them back, so we cannot do anything, cause they are God’s not ours.
The Last cute photo of them on Saturday, 15 January 2022.
It was 2 days before Do back to Heaven, then 6 days later, Re also followed his lovely brother. I thought they posed this for us to always remind us of them. We of course won’t forget them, forever.
Yesterday, even in sorrow, as an artist and a crafter, I would like to make a mini replica of our beloved cute kitten, Re. Although before I had thought of make him a doll to accompany him in his bed but I couldn’t do that anymore. So, I spent my Sunday time at home, remind the joy he gave us, sometimes still cry, but I tried to make this mini felt doll. You could copy it to make one if you like him. Or even make your own version as a reminder of your pet.. Here I try to share how I made it.
Materials & Things needed:
- Unused thick paper (a bit thicker than its’ original)
- A black marker or anything to draw on the paper
- A pencil
- Scissors, I used two kind of it, a paper scissors and a craft scissors for the detail small parts ones
- Felt in white, black, pink and soft green
- Embroidery floss in black, pink, white
- A sewing needle
- Dacron
Project Time: 4-5 hours
Skills Needed:
- Whipped stitch
- Back stitch
- French knot
- Satin stitch
- Blanket stitch
How to make it:
1ST
I drew my kitten on an unused thick brochure paper with the marker, then I cut it off. Then I transferred its’ head and body part (without the tail) on the white felt. I made two of it for the front and also back part. Also I cut them off.
2ND
Then I cut the small part of the white felt, for the area of the small pink nose and the pink small mouth. Then cut the small pink for the nose, I then stitched it on the small white felt with the black floss, then satin stitch some part of the nose, like my kitten’s nose. Then I joined on the top by stitching it to the whole face-body part.
3RD
After that I back stitched the mouth with pink floss.
4TH
Then, I cut another pink triangles for the area inside the ears. Cut the black felt into Re’s spot patterns on the face. I also cut the green for the eyes, why I used green here, cause when we saw Re behind sunlight, the eyes would sparked green, soft green color.
5TH
Then I whipped stitch the pink triangle in Re’s left ear. Then I French knotted with black to join the green eyes to the head. After that I whipped stitch two spots that Re had on the face. One was near his right hear, another a bit near his left eye.
6TH
Then I continued by whipped stitch pink triangle on his other ear.
7TH
After that, I cut some white for his four legs. And a pair for his long black tail.
8TH
For each of the front part of the feet, I made the black lines like below, here I used the a straight short stitch.
9TH
And for the tail, I connect front and back parts with the blanket stitch, then I sew it to the back body part.
10TH
I then whipped stitch Re’s other spots on the back body part of him. One on the top of the head, and one on the back, near the long tail.
11TH
After that, I back stitched the back parts of two legs with white floss. Then I blanket stitched the front part, and before close it I put some Dacron inside it. I did the same for the other side of leg. Then I did the same for the other two legs, first back stitched the back parts.
12TH
Then I continued by blanket stitching the front parts. For these smaller looked legs, I didn’t put any Dacron inside. Before joining the front and back part of the whole head and body, I made some straight lines with white floss for his whiskers.
13TH
Last, I joined the front and back part with the blanket stitch, I used white floss for this. Put some Dacron inside, then I closed it all.
Voila, Re is finished. I also show you the back part of his body.
I put it in our bedroom so we could still have Re not only in our hearts but the mini replica of him in our place. How We already missed you, Re… Hope you miss us in Heaven too.
This is mini doll of Re and Re picture..

This is really emotional, I can imagine how you feel.
Am really sorry about your pet.
I once watched a neighbors pet fmdog die of pain and I felt sorry like he was out best friend and companion
Very nice of you to recreate them into a toy.
Please take care and get some new pets.
Thank you very much for your support and appreciation 💕
So sorry about the loss of your kitties. I've lost 2 cats in the past. Like a good friend. I hope you always have fond memories of them. Now they can be happy together. I guess they couldn't live without each other. Hang tough. How nice of you to make something in their memory. Channeling your emotions.
Thank you very much. Yes you are right, they were too close each other. Re had smaller and weaker body than Do, usually when he is sick Do always accompanies and supports him.. and now they are together forever.
Beautiful you did absolutely amazing thanks for sharing @devyleona
Thanks
That cat flu is strong. I am very sorry to hear what happened to Do and Re (by the way their names already make a difference), even more so if they suffer and we see them dying slowly. Just tell you to remember the happiest moments with them and above all their teachings. Strength and let's go forward!.
Si. Gracias
