One of my favorite things to make is a pouch for my hooks and this tends to happen a lot since I can easily get bored of the color or pattern of the previous one or more importantly it does not fit all my hooks, especially when I buy new hooks.#needlework
Today's case is the typical ‘i would love to try a new pattern’ syndrome. I did get bored of the last one I made though, it was pink and orange, and one issue with that design is that my aluminium hooks of 2.5mm and below, fell out of the holes occasionally and it got a little bit annoying at some point.
The next logical action was to make a better and more useful design.
I thought it would have more coverage if the yarn was more bulky and that was perfect because I had scrap yarn from a project I did weeks ago and luckily it was an 8ply yarn, so big win for me.
I used double crochet stitches throughout the body of the pouch which actually looks way better than the previous design i did and when i got to the top i did something different again.
Normally I use front post back post for the end of the pouch so I can easily pass the loop through it, but this time I left the stitching as a regular double crochet and for the loop.
Instead of the normal chains i used i decided to add twists to the yarn instead then inserted it into the spaced so i can easily secure it when i am not using it anymore
I know most people use cup like objects or containers to store their hooks but it does not work for me since i tend to move around a lot with my work tools, these type of pouches are very easy to transport and does not take up space in my work bag almost like it is not there in the first place
The next part of this project was to add a few designs to it so I could elevate the look and it would stand out from the other designs. This part is what I call the finishing.
Yessssssssssssss the finishing, i had these tiny flower patches that i made to design a long mesh dress but in the end i did not use them for the intended purpose, so this seemed like the perfect time to make use of it since i did not want this design to be bland or plain in any way,
i thought about gluing them to the bae but yes i have trust issues so i did sewing instead before i'll cry about fallen patches, so i attached the flowers to it and yes it came out more beautiful than i had expected.
The supplies that I used in making this
5.0mm hook
Stitch markers
8 ply cotton yarn
Scissors
Measurement Tape
Ps: these pictures belong to me and we’re taken with my mobile device.
will it serve as a phone pouch? looks beautiful I love the colour combination.
It can be made bigger to fit a phone.
Your crochet hook pouch is really stylish. Nice work.
