Feliz y bendecido miércoles mis queridos Needleworkers, cuan grato es poder visualizar cada una de sus maravillosas creaciones, aprender de ustedes y a la vez poder compartir un nuevo proyecto en este día.

Como sabrán cada nuevo emprendimiento ya sea de empleo o estudios amerita de ciertos cambios y gastos en los accesorios que se puedan necesitar para dicho emprendimiento, como les comenté en blogs pasados retomé mis estudios en el ramo de la costura, a pesar de tener ciertos conocimientos me exigían comenzar desde cero, algo que lo vi beneficioso al final.

As you know, any new venture, whether it's a job or studies, requires some changes and expenses for the necessary accessories. As I mentioned in previous blogs, I've gone back to school for sewing. Even though I had some knowledge, they required me to start from scratch, which turned out to be beneficial in the end.

Los primeros días no se nos exigía llevar mucho material, pero a partir de la semana pasada sí debíamos llevar muchos implementos entre ellos: telas, papel kraft, tijeras, reglas largas, etc. El miércoles pasado fue una odisea pues llevará mi bolso de diario, un bolso de mano con el material que necesitaba, el bolso del almuerzo y de paso la regla grande, todo un desastre al tener que trasladarme en trasporte público.

In the beginning, we didn't need to bring a lot of materials, but starting last week, we had to bring a ton of stuff: fabrics, kraft paper, scissors, long rulers, you name it! Last Wednesday was a nightmare because I had my everyday purse, a handbag with the materials I needed, my lunch bag, and to top it all off, a huge ruler—total chaos trying to get around on public transport.

No soy de las personas que les gustan llevar muchos paquetes, por lo general siempre llevo mi carro de compras y voy guardando todo allí o en su defecto un bolso de compras grande, así que me puse a buscar en Internet el modo de hacer un bolso lo suficientemente grande y práctico donde pudiera llevar mi cuaderno y patrones sin dañarse y a la vez llevar todo el resto de los materiales que necesito y encontré este vídeo el cual es justo lo que necesitaba.

I'm not one for carrying a bunch of bags. I usually use my shopping cart to store everything, or a large shopping bag. So, I went online to find a way to make a big, practical bag where I could carry my notebook and patterns without damaging them, along with all the other materials I need. I found this video, which was exactly what I needed.

1- Así que después de ver el vídeo varias veces, puse manos a la obra y aunque le hice uno que otro cambio, proseguí a cortar las piezas que necesitaba, para este bolso usé Lona impermeable al igual que tafeta impermeable, doble seguridad ante las lluvias, jaja.

1- So, after watching the video several times, I got to work. Even though I made a few changes, I proceeded to cut the pieces I needed. For this bag, I used waterproof canvas as well as waterproof taffeta—double the protection against the rain, haha.

2- Luego de tener todas las piezas fue armando primero los bolsillos delanteros, en esto tuve cierta dificultad fue este vídeo aplican ciertas técnicas nuevas para mí.

2- Once I had all the pieces, I started by assembling the front pockets. This was a bit tricky because the video uses some new techniques for me.

3- Seguido los cosí al frontal delantero del morral.

3- Then, I sewed them onto the front of the bag.

4- Proseguí cosiendo las cremalleras, acá hice un pequeño cambió pues no solo le deje una solapa al cierre sino que la misma la dejé hacía la parte trasera del morral a manera de protección ante los amigos de lo ajeno, jaja.

4- Next, I sewed the zippers. I made a small change here: I not only added a flap to the zipper but also positioned it towards the back of the bag for extra protection against pickpockets, haha.

5- Posteriormente cosí los bolsillos laterales, esto también fue una manera diferente para mí.

5- After that, I sewed the side pockets, which was also a new method for me.

6- ya terminado los bolsillos laterales los uní al fuelle del cierre.

6- Once the side pockets were done, I attached them to the zipper gusset.

7- Proseguí a coser las hombreras y cintas, más me entretuve cosiendo y charlando con una visita y no tomé fotos del proceso.

7- Then, I sewed the shoulder straps and bands. I got a bit sidetracked chatting with a visitor, so I didn't take pictures of this step.

8- Seguido cosí la funda interna (para llevar mi cuaderno y patrones) y proseguí con el bolsillo trasero el cual es de mi autoría jaja.

8- Next, I sewed the inner sleeve (for my notebook and patterns) and then the back pocket, which was my own design, haha.

9- Ya teniendo todo listo comencé a cerrar el morral, primero cosí la parte de trasera al fuelle y seguido la parte delantera, a ambas partes le coloqué sesgo para tapar las costuras de unión y listo ya el morral está terminado.

9- With everything ready, I started closing up the bag. First, I sewed the back to the gusset, followed by the front. I added bias tape to both parts to cover the seam allowances, and just like that, the bag was finished!

10 – Un detalle adicional que le añadí a este morral fue el soporte en la cintura, a sabiendas que me tocará llevar algo de peso, no está de más proteger mí columna, este proyecto me llevó unas 8 horas intercaladas en realizarlo, pero me llenó de gran satisfacción al aprender nuevas técnicas.

10- An extra detail I added was a waist support. Knowing I'd be carrying some weight, it's good to protect my back. This project took me about 8 hours on and off, but it was incredibly satisfying to learn new techniques."
