Today's post will be focused on the beautiful flare dress I made for my bestie, we started as church members, but today, our bond has grown stronger to that of sisters, she is a huge part of my motivation, From not liking how she looks, because she taught she was too big, to me taking all of that crazy thought out of her head, in addition making her beautiful dresses, so she sees how beautiful and wonderfully made she is. She has also had a positive impact on me as a person and my brand, I don't have many friends, but she is more than all I could have.

She reached out to me about wanting last Sunday of the year dresses for her and her daughter, and trusted me as always to make something beautiful for her, let it have a touch of the Christmas color green or red, she says, this is one common request I got from most people this month. Thankfully, I found this beautiful floral fabric that fits just perfectly, and I decided to make her a flare dress with puffy sleeves just to match her daughter's dress style.

Materials Used

  • Light Crepe fabric
  • Organdy fabric
  • Lining fabric
  • Zipper
  • Matching coloured thread

Cutting And Sewing Process

  • I started by drafting and cutting out the upper part of the dress, using a bustier pattern for the front, this pattern help contour the bust area, giving it a beautiful fit.

  • I used a normal back four piece pattern, I also repeated all process on the lining fabric,

  • Next, I joined the patterns together, and joined the front and back by the shoulders

  • To add more details to the upper side of the dress, using the organdy fabric, made a long strip of about 1.5 inches in width with a long length enough for me to kiss pleat around both armhole areas.

  • The lower part of the dress was cut out in a 180 degree flare, her waist was used as the radius of the flare

  • Here is the puffy sleeve drafted pattern cut out on the organdy fabric, I also pleated them around both armholes, and passed elastic to gather the hem.

  • Finally, I joined the part of the dress to the lower flare by the waist area, and here is the beautiful final look on my beautiful bestie, I added a last minute cute bow on both sides of the waist. She was so happy to receive her new dress, and felt beautiful too, I'm glad to see that happy smile and satisfaction on her face.

I hope you love this dress style as well.
