Creating A Royal Look For Inter-House Sport Princess

in NeedleWorkMonday2 days ago (edited)

Greetings dear friends, hope you are all having the best of the week, It was a fun Wednesday for me yesterday at my children's yesterday, as they had their annual inter-house sport programme, which is usually filled with lots of fun activities, that both the children, teachers and parent all participate in this healthy sport activity.

There was the match pass, the highlight of the event, racing, and other fun games, the competition this time was between four houses, identified by their distinct colour, we had the gold, wine, purple, and orange houses, and my daughters represented the gold house, and each house had their princes adorned with a beautiful princess dress, and since my daughters were in the gold house, I volunteered to make their little princess dress, it was indeed a beautiful sight, though I came back home feeling very tired after the day's stress, it was worth it all.

it was even more exciting when the princess I styled won the best dress princess, as based on the styling details and fabric used, to be frank, I wasn't sure of what to make at first and even asked their teacher for what they looked out for, she sent me a video of a princess gown, and I recreated it my own way, because I love my unique touch of creativity in any dress I make, especially when it would be scrutinize by the judges of the day,and gladly, it made that bold statement intended, our golden beautiful princess also indeed felt very royal in her dress.

As expected, I will be sharing the making process with us, at some point I had to use my children's iPad to take pictures of the process due to a power outage in my neighbourhood, making all my devices down except theirs, funny I tried transferring them to my android, but I have been unsuccessful with that and just retook the pictures with my phone, hence the picture quality, I hope someone can help me with that. Without further ado, let's get right into the making process

Materials Used

  • Sequin lace
  • Velvet fabric
  • 12vyards of tulle
  • Rhinestones
  • Satin fabric

Process

  • I started by drafting the upper part of the dress using pattern paper,

  • Then transferred the pattern to the fabrics, combining the tulle and sequin fabric while the satin fabric served as the base for the sequin lace

  • Next, I joined all the patterns together

  • For the lower part of the dress, I cut out a half flare, using her waist measurement as the radius of the circle,

  • Continuing, I cut out the tulle to her length, gathered and sewed it to the flare

  • Before joining the lower part of the dress to the upper part, I cut out this petal shape using the velvet fabric and also cut out this shape as a hanging sleeve

  • and finally, used a normal basic sleeve for the bodice of the dress, applying the rhinestones was the last thing I did.

Look how beautiful our golden princess looks. I took a lot of pictures of the event, saving memories for tomorrow, the event indeed created more bonding moments between children and their parents.
