Estoy muy feliz por asistir a este Festival del tejido en Perú. Como les mencioné en la publicación anterior, en un principio no tenía planeado ir. Aunque cuando gané las entradas, sí me puse manos a la obra. ¡Veamos qué mas hubo!.
I am very happy to attend this weaving festival in Peru. As I mentioned in the previous post, I hadn't originally planned to go. But when I won the tickets, I did get down to work. So let's see what else was on offer!.

No hay duda que las flores tejidas siguen siendo una de las más atractivas para el público. Por 1° vez las ví en su tamaño real y en un macetero. Eran voluminosas y con muchas texturas. También hubo una máquina para hilar madejas de manera artesanal (eso dió a entender). Para mí una de las partes más divertidas fue este mini taller libre a cargo de Gianella de Lacatalinaperu, donde hicimos llaveros en forma de: corazón, estrella, pescado, mariposa, etc. y todo con restos de hilo.
Crocheted flowers are still one of the most attractive to the public. Here for the first time I saw them in their real size and in a pot. They were voluminous and textured. There was also a machine for spinning skeins in a handmade way (so it seemed). For me one of the most fun parts was this free mini workshop by Gianella from Lacatalinaperu, where we made keychain in the shape of: heart, star, fish, butterfly... and all with leftover yarn. I spent most of the event sewing, jaja.
La gente podía tomarse fotos con la alpaca y al costado había como un cuadro de vidrio (donde entraban las personas) con frases relativos a los tejedores. De todas las prendas tejidas, esta chompa llamó mi atención. Tiene apliques de hojas y florecillas y está hecha con uno de mis colores favoritos. Espero algún día llegar a ese nivel.
People could take pictures with the alpaca and on the side there was like a glass box (where people entered) with phrases related to the weavers. Of all the woven garments, this cardigan caught my attention. It has appliqués of leaves and little flowers and is made in one of my favourite colors. I hope one day to reach that level.
La expresión de la cultura se hizo presente. En el lado izquierdo vemos a los Diablitos, la cultura Moche, El Señor de Sipán, las 3 hojas de coca entre otros personajes icónicos de las culturas pre hispánicas. Estas figuras están estampadas en medias y taloneras para el frío. Y a la derecha vemos a Frida Kalo hecha con la técnica Intarsia...me parece que es un polivestido que están tan de moda aquí.
Cultural expression was present. On the left side we see the Devils, the Moche culture, the Lord of Sipan, the 3 coca leaves among other iconic characters of the pre-Hispanic cultures. This figures are printed on socks and heels for the cold weather. And on the right we see Frida Kalo made with the Intarsia technique...it seems to me that it is a poly-dress that is so fashionable here.
A eso de las 5:30 había culminado la última charla "Cómo crear contenido y generar ingresos con YouTube y Redes Sociales", dictado por Betzaida de Amoraltejido. Si bien hasta esa hora seguía entretenida con la máquina de coser (jaja), estuve escuchando todo lo que nos comentó (las mujeres tenemos esas habilidades y muchas más).
At around 5:30 the last talk ‘How to create content and generate income with YouTube and Social Networks’, given by Betzaida from Amoraltejido, had finished. Although until that time I was still busy with the sewing machine (what a thing...), I was listening to everything she told us (women have those skills and many more).
Fuí con las manos vacías y regresé con esto ¡Yehhh!...a excepción de mini Diablito, él está de modelo. Antes de salir, investigué las actividades libres que habían ese día, entre las ponencias y los concursos.
I went empty handed and came back with this Yehhh!...except for little Devil, he is a model. Before leaving, I researched the free activities that day, between the presentations and the competitions.
La idea era llevar los restos de hilo y allí nos enseñarían a elaborar este llavero y así fue. Manejar una máquina de coser era uno de mis sueños. Desde pequeña (a los 3 y 4 años) le tenía miedo a ese zapatito metálico, que cogía el hilo y lo golpeaba duramente contra las telas tejidas, cosiéndolas y formando chompas y pantalones de lana. Elegí la figura de la estrella, porque tiene un significado enorme para mí...Y este fue el resultado, ahora puedo decir ¡Sueño cumplido!.
The idea was to take the leftover thread and there they would teach us how to make this keychain, and so it was. To operate a sewing machine was one of my dreams. Since I was a little girl (when I was 3 and 4 years old) I was afraid of that little metal shoe, which took the thread and hit it hard against the woven fabrics, sewing them and forming cardigan and woollen trousers. I chose the figure of the star, because it has an enormous meaning for me... And this was the result, now I can say: ‘Realised dream!.
Este hilo lo gané en un concurso (para variar). Consistió en hacer bien el clásico juego del Avioncito (yo lo conozco con ese nombre), es decir tiras la piedrita y luego saltas los casilleros, recoges la piedrita y regresas saltando...la idea es esa, jaja. En la etiqueta de este hilo dice 100% Dritex y leyendo referencias sé que es 100% acrílico. Tiene 4 hebras, eso quiere decir que se avecina el Grinch o sino otro pesonaje colorido y divertido.
I won this yarn in a competition (for a change). It consisted of playing the classic game of little airplane (I know it by that name). throw the pebble and then jump the lockers, pick up the pebble and jump back...that's the idea, jaja. On the sticker of this yarn it says 100% Dritex and reading references I know that it is 100% acrylic. It has 4 strands, so that means the Grinch is coming or some other colorful and funny character.
En su stand, Malabrigo tenía varios catálogos con lanas merino e hilados de algodón pima. Tocar la suavidad de ambas me dió a conocer el por qué tienen una muy buena calidad. Y lo mejor fue su amplia gama de colores, ya sea enteros y matizados. Acabo de revisar su página y veo que es una marca internacional...Ahora entiendo porque tanto merino (si aquí no hay muchas ovejas, jaja).
At the stand of Malabrigo they had several catalogues of merino wool and pima cotton yarns. Touching the softness of both gave me to know why they have a very good quality. And the best thing was their wide range of colors, both whole and shaded. I just checked their website and I see that they are an international brand... Now I understand why so much merino (if there are not many sheep here, jaja).
Dentro de la bolcita y como arte de magia, habían patrones para tejer chalinas, cuellos o bandanas. Justo, días antes estaba pensando en cómo serán los patrones de las prendas tejidas, los gráficos, las abreviaturas todo eso. La verdad, se muy poco y para tejerme un cardigan de Diablito estoy a kilómetros. Este material me ayudará a tener un panorama más claro.
As if by magic, inside the little bag, there were patterns for knitting scarves, collars or bandanas. Just days before, I was thinking about how the patterns for the knitted garments would look like, the graphics, the abbreviations and all that. To be honest, I know very little and I'm miles away from crocheting a little Devil cardigan. This material will help me to have a clearer picture.
