Sachamama and Yakumama || Llaveros _ Crochet keychain

Yo aquí terminando de diseñar a las famosas: Sachamama y Yakumama. Durante años (según yo), también le tenía miedo a las serpientes...ni siquiera sabía el por qué.

Por otro lado, las serpientes en las culturas andinas y amazónicas representa el conocimiento y sabiduría. Además, está muy relacionado a la medicina. Es más, en los 4 suyos (Tawantinsuyo), Guamán Poma nos dice que la región Collasuyo vivían los curanderos (médicos en esta época). En lengua Aymara, a los médicos le dicen qulliri (se pronuncia qolliri)... Así que, creo que llegó el momento de desmentir los mitos o ir desechando paradigmas.

Here I am finishing the design of the famous: Sachamama and Yakumama. For years (according to me), I was also scared of snakes... I didn't even know why.

On the contrary, snakes in Andean and Amazonian cultures represent knowledge and wisdom. Moreover, it is closely related to medicine. In the 4 suyos (Tawantinsuyo), Guamán Poma tells us that the Collasuyo region was inhabited by curanderos (doctors at this time). In Aymara, doctors are called qulliri (pronounced qolliri)...So, I think the time has come to refute the myths or discard the paradigms.

Elección de los colores || Choice of colors

Sachamama habita en los bosques de la Amazonía, por lo que su color tenía que ser verde y madera. Para mimetizarse (camuflarse) en la naturaleza y avanzar lentamente por la tierra. Para esto, me ayudó bastante haberlo diseñado anteriormente y ahora solo seguí el patrón.

Sachamama lives in the forests of the Amazon, so his color had to be green and wood. To mimic (camouflage) in the nature and to advance slowly through the earth. For this, it helped me a lot to have designed it before and now I just followed the pattern.

Luego, le agregué las orejitas, el cuerpo, le coloqué el aro de llavero... y ¡lista!.

Then, I added the little ears, the body, the keychain... and ready!.

Yakumama

... O serpiente del mar. Yaku viene del Quechua y significa agua. En las culturas Andinas y Amazónicas significa: Habitante de las aguas y protector de la Amazonía. Para quienes somos de Lima, la Amazonía sigue siendo un lugar desconocido y enigmático. Por eso, hoy fuí a al cine y ví una película Documental Karuara, donde muestran las vivencias de la población Kukama, sus creencias y cómo ven el mundo. Además, hablaban en su lengua nativa y eso me encantó.

... Or sea serpent. Yaku comes from Quechua and means water. In Andean and Amazonian cultures it means: Inhabitant of the waters and protector of the Amazon. For those of us from Lima, the Amazon is still an unknown and enigmatic place. That is why today I went to the cinema and saw a documentary film Karuara, where they show the experiences of the Kukama people, their beliefs and how they see the world. Also, they spoke in their native language and I loved that.

Sabía que en algún tiempo diseñaría una serpiente, no pensé que sería ambas. Y con un enorme significado, el de respetar la naturaleza porque es parte de nosotros: nos dá oxígeno, nos alimenta y nos da un lugar hermoso para vivir.

I knew that at some moment I would design a snake, I didn't think it would be both. And with a huge meaning, that of respecting nature because it is part of us: it gives us oxygen, it feeds us and it gives us a beautiful place to live.

Dato curioso: Justo hoy ví la película Karuara, donde hablan de una Boa enorme que habitó en el Río Marañon (Perú) y originó a la población Kukama...Eso como una leyenda del orígen de la viva de los Kukama. |  Just today I saw the film Karuara, where they talk about a huge Boa that lived in the Marañon River (Peru) and originated the Kukama population...
