Crocheting a mini rose bouquet of flowers

in NeedleWorkMonday3 months ago

This is my second project ever in crocheting. I’m so amazed at what determination can do, i wanted to do something different and unique, so i thought hard of what i should make. It was then i remembered Valentine is around the corner and decided to crochet a bouquet of flowers for myself as a valentine gift.
At first i wasn’t sure if i could do it, i unraveled the yarn a couple of times because i was getting it wrong. At some point i felt frustrated( i kept making mistakes over and over again, lol) but the fact i wanted to gift myself something was the driving force, i saw it as a challenge that I had to overcome and yeah, i did!! It took me three solid days to crochet.

I made some mistakes and my work isn’t perfect becaue I’m still a beginner, so please pardon any imperfections.

Now let me take you through the process

Materials
Four (4) colours of yarn[white, red, green and peach]
3.5mm crochet hook
Stitch marker
Wool(for stuffing)
Scissors
Glue

STEPS

1) The body:
For the round one, i started with making the body of the flower (used the peach colour) then i made a magic ring(MR), chained 1 and made six single crochet into the ring. For round two, i made six increases(that is to make two single crochets in each stitch).

To start round three, i made single crochet and increase altenatively (repeated the pattern of one single crochet, one increase until the end of the chain)

Round four: one single crochet in a stitch, an increase in the next stitch and one single crochet in the next (repeated the pattern until the end of the chain)

Round five: three single crochet in three different stitches and an increase(followed this pattern until the end)

Round six: two single crochet in two stitches, an increase in the next stitch and two single stitches in the next two stitches (repeated this pattern until the end)

Round seven: one single crochet in each stitch but the back loops only(inserting the hook through only half back of a stitch)

Round eight: one single crochet in each stitch

Round nine: same thing i did in round eight

Round Ten: This was how my work looked in round 10
(I was so focused on getting it right and forgot to take pictures in the previous rounds, pardon me)

I continued the pattern for round eight to round twelve and this was how my work looked in round twelve

Round thirteen: one single crochet in the next two stitches, a decrease and one single crochet in the next two stitches( repeated this pattern until the end of the chain)

Started curving inwards

Round fourteen: three single crochet and a decrease

Round fifteen: i made 12 decreases in all stitches

I started stuffing in with wool

After stuffing with wool

For round sixteen: six decrease in all stitches to close up

Round seventeen: chained two, three double crochet in one stitch until the end of the chain and made a slip stitch to end the round

Round eighteen to twenty [chain one, one sc in each stitch and slst]

2) Ruffle:

Round one: from round six of the body, chain one and thirty-six single crochet

Round two: Back loop only three double crochet in one stitch, front loop only three double crochet in one stitch till the end of the chain.

3) Rose:

I used three colours for the roses(red, white and peach), made a slip knot, chained six, one single crochet and an increase X3

3) Leaf
Round one: magic ring and three single crochet into the magic ring
Round two: chained three, one single crochet, one half-double crochet and ended with a slip stitch. Repeated the pattern two more times
