Personalized Bath Robe

in NeedleWorkMonday3 years ago

I have owned a white bath robe for a while now. I keep it on a robe hook in my guest bathroom. Originally, I thought that I would allow my overnight guests to use it because it is 100% cotton and fluffy. It reminds me of being at a nice resort.

Well, no one used my bathrobe even though I have had many overnight guests. They probably thought that it was my own personal robe and they didn’t want to infringe on my personal space.

I decided to embroider my bathrobe with a fancy letter J. I tried it out first on one of my pottery aprons to see how it would stitch out. I did not want to mess up my nice robe.

The font is dense and stitched out perfectly. My pottery class is starting back up after 2 years closed due to the pandemic.

I used my magnetic hoop again instead of the traditional hoop that came with my machine. I decided to include photos so that the difference could be easily seen.

The magnetic hoop allows me to “float“ fabric that can be held down with magnets. The robe is so thick, that it would be very difficult to fit in between the traditional hoop that came with the machine. It is also possible to float fabric on the stabilizer with the traditional hoop and either temporarily glue it down to the stabilizer or pin it down. The magnetic hoop is much easier to handle.

I also added water soluble stabilizer to the top of the robe to keep the stitches from sinking down. Whenever the fabric has a raised nap, it is important to use the water soluble stabilizer on top.

My embroidery only machine was made for home use. Due to the pandemic and many people staying at home out of necessity, it became very popular for people to use in a home-based business. The price of the machine doubled and was back ordered for months. I still use my machine for personal use because I have already retired from my job.

I love using embroidery to personalize my own things as well as to make gifts for others.

Enjoy your day.

This is really lovely, I tried making embroidery with hands and needle but they were not good at all.
Its really beautiful to see that a machine can do this and you know what to do exactly.
I would have all my outfits customized if I have this machine 💖🌹

Thank you. It is tempting to customize many of my outfits. I have a plain gray sweatshirt that I want to decorate with embroidery. I just haven't decided on which design I want to use.😊
