It's being 4 months since I last made an outfit that's if I remember right. And also, a good day to you all.
I'm a part time tailor lol, while away from school I'm a full time tailor and when in school only time I get to sew is when I get to be on break from school. While I wasn't on break from school, I was able to make an outfit after so long last weekend for a friend of mine. He's being talking about me making a cloth for him for a while but it never happened then untill recently he asked I sew for him, he got a material and asked I took his measurements so I can sew for him. I wasn't on break from school but since it was weekend (Friday) and no lectures was held I decided to make it for him. I measured him and was off to work on his shirt.
He requested for a camp collar shirt.
Materials Used
Fabric ( Ankara)
Thread
Paper stay/ soft gum
Button
Procedure
- Started with drafting the body of the shirt and also cutting it out, next i cut the sleeves out started preparing the sleeves (folded the hem)
- next i joined the front and back piece together ( trimmed the neck to the size I needed),next i sew the front piece ( the open collar)
- next i measured the neck and cut out the collar, padded it with the paper stay, after that sew it with the turn over piece.
- after fixing the collar to the neck, joined the sleeves next.
- after that, iron each piece i had sew, next i sew the sides and left extra allowance for the side slits sleet.
- for the finishing touch, hemd the shirt, ironed the whole shirt after fixing the button holes and buttons.
And it was completed.
It was a bit hard getting it together you could see lots of chalk on the front piece, i almost forgot how to draft (again lol) and also getting the right neck was also a challenge. Fourth time making this shirt with this collar so paying close attention to it was important, also thought i lost my sewing touch again since its being so long i sew and well it came out good. And it was ready to be packaged.
Haven't seen the shirt on him yet but asked him if he liked it, and he said it was nice. Hopefully in the coming brake i will be finally be off school for a while and will have time to sew some more.
Thanks for coming around.
See you when next i sew.
And have a week full of positivity 🧘.
