Kia Ora, (Hello)
It is Monday here in New Zealand and this is my latest project. A shirt made from FIVE vintage linen tea towels. I got the tea towels in a big bundle I won in an auction. It took about two days to make as I've never made one before. The linen is a dream to sew with, each tea towel tells a story and is super cool and light to wear
This shirt was actually a practice run, I used the tea towels I didn't like as much - but I ended up really loving the end result. The buildings and images are super charming
My daughter wanted this, but it is a bit too big - so I am going to make her one for Chirstmas. She loves Scotland so I will make it Scotland themed and use these tea towels
Have you ever created something with linen tea towels? Or would you?
Oh! It is awesome! I like the prints.I used to recycle, too, then accent it with crochet but I have not yet make with linen tea towels.
Oh crochet edging would look absolutely beautiful! Wish I could crochet :D
This is way cool! I really like the vibe of this shirt, and the way it fits! I bet your daughter will adore her Scottland themed one- the towels are really fun!
I'm so bad at sewing, that I wouldn't use pretty (even upcycled) linen at all 😂 I just know I'd mess it up haha
Aww thank you! I still get nervous cutting in to vintage fabric and don't worry I have messed it up a few times : D
I was also very bad at sewing and still am sometimes 😂 give it a go, you could start with something basic. It is satisfying when it works out ❤
I love the idea!!
...and the pattern of the shirt, looks gorgeous:)
Did you construct the pattern yourself, or used an existing one?
Thank you 😍 oh I should have said in the post. I used an existing pattern, I love hunting vintage patterns at op shops. I can pattern make but this pattern was just right. I used a vintage one and cropped it
Ooh yes I love to find and collect those patterns too ...and adjust them😁
Yes always adjusting them hehe. They usually evolve in to different patterns completely over time lol
😁😁 They are!
Looking forward to see what they evolved to then!!
