I am going to tell you an anecdote that happened to me these days. It turns out that when I was cleaning the house from all the fuss of December, I started to organise some things and put them away, and I realised that a jacket sleeve that belonged to a military campaign uniform started to roll around. First I saw it in the living room, then on the porch and finally I found it on the dining room table.
I have a cousin who we affectionately call Deyita, she lives near our house, we are very fond of her. Many years ago she was diagnosed with e neuro fibromatosis. Deyita came home yesterday morning and saw the sleeve of the jacket, she asked me who it belonged to and I told her that it belonged to no one, so she asked me to make her a shopping bag. So I said hands to needles. Although it was a simple job because I did it in one afternoon, I made a blunder in the hole, because I wanted to make it as a border, but I didn't really remember exactly how it was, I had a vague idea, but nothing that a good sewing can't fix.

Os voy a contar una anécdota que me ha pasado estos días. Resulta que cuando estaba limpiando la casa de todo el jaleo de diciembre, empecé a organizar algunas cosas y a guardarlas, y me di cuenta de que una manga de chaqueta que pertenecía a un uniforme de campaña militar empezó a rodar por ahí. Primero la vi en el salón, luego en el porche y finalmente la encontré en la mesa del comedor.
Tengo una prima a la que llamamos cariñosamente Deyita, vive cerca de nuestra casa, le tenemos mucho cariño. Hace muchos años le diagnosticaron e neuro fibromatosis. Deyita llegó a casa ayer por la mañana y vio la manga de la chaqueta, me preguntó de quién era y le dije que de nadie, así que me pidió que le hiciera una bolsa de la compra. Así que dije manos a las agujas. Aunque fue un trabajo sencillo porque lo hice en una tarde, cometí un error garrafal en el agujero, porque quería hacerlo a modo de cenefa, pero no recordaba exactamente cómo era, tenía una vaga idea, pero nada que una buena costura no pueda arreglar.

When I cut and went to turn it over, I realised that I should have cut two tabs, what a big mistake. However, I tucked the fabric in and stitched the seam.

Cuando corté y fui a darle la vuelta, me di cuenta de que tenía que haber cortado dos pestañas, qué gran error. No obstante, metí la tela por dentro y cosí la costura.
From the other piece of leftover fabric I cut three strips of 3cm each. I pinned them together, stitched them together and then sewed them together to form the handles of the bag. Del otro trozo de tela sobrante corté tres tiras de 3 cm cada una. Las uní con alfileres, las cosí y luego las cosí para formar las asas de la bolsa. Cuando estaba cosiendo dos veces las asas, se rompió la aguja, pero gracias a Dios tenía otra aguja, así que la cambié rápidamente y terminé el trabajo.
