Nosé si conocen el dicho que hay entre las costureras que dice “ los retazos son del sastre” 🤭, bueno, hoy quiero compartirles la idea para hacer un lindo conjunto deportivo, este lo hice con esos retazos que nos van quedando de trabajos hechos en nuestras costuras, en este caso con la tela llamada atlética, ven y te muestro cómo confeccionar este lindo conjunto:

I don't know if you know the saying among seamstresses that says "the scraps are the tailor's" 🤭, well, today I want to share with you the idea to make a nice sports outfit, I made this with those scraps that we have left from work done in our seams, in this case with the fabric called athletic, come and I will show you how to make this nice outfit:

Tenía dos retazos de tela atlética entre todas las bolsas de mis retazos, esta tela viene de unos colores muy bonitos pero en lo personal para prendas para mí no me gusta, entonces decidí buscar la forma de hacer algo lindo y que sirviera para alguna de mis hijas, de tanto pensar se me ocurrió la idea de hacer un conjunto deportivo, actualmente están muy de moda y son muy prácticos a la hora de salir para un parque o algún paseo de río o playa, aquí te dejo la lista de materiales a utilizar:
- Tela atlética de dos colores, en mi caso tengo morada y gris, me pareció linda la combinación , mi retazo de tela morada debe tener aproximadamente 1 m y la tela gris debe tener un aproximado de medio metro pero distribuida en forma vertical así que buscaré la forma de incluirla en el conjunto.
- Hilo acorde a la tela
- Tijeras
- Cinta métrica
- Elástico de tres o 4 cm de grosor
- Máquina de coser
I had two scraps of athletic fabric among all my scrap bags, this fabric comes in very pretty colors but personally I don't like it for clothes, so I decided to find a way to make something nice and that would be useful for one of my daughters, after thinking so much I came up with the idea of making a sports outfit, they are currently very fashionable and are very practical when going out to a park or a walk along the river or beach, here is the list of materials to use:
- Athletic fabric in two colors, in my case I have purple and gray, I thought the combination was nice, my purple fabric scrap should be approximately 1 m and the gray fabric should be approximately half a meter but distributed vertically so I will look for a way to include it in the outfit.
- Thread according to the fabric
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Elastic three or 4 cm thick
- Sewing machine

STEP BY STEP
Comenzaremos con la confección del Short, este será cortado en 4 piezas en tela morada, 2 delanteras y 2 traseras, con bordes en tela gris y dos listones en esta tela para los laterales, voy a guiarme de un Short de mi hija, comenzaré dibujando la parte delantera, luego de copiar el modelo voy a redondearlo en las orillas de los laterales.
La cintura de este Short será aparte en tela gris, así que a la hora de copiar el modelo del Short que estamos utilizando no será necesario aumentarle centímetros en la parte de la cintura.
We will start by making the shorts, which will be cut into 4 pieces in purple fabric, 2 front and 2 back, with grey fabric edges and two ribbons in this fabric for the sides. I will use one of my daughter's shorts as a guide. I will start by drawing the front part, and after copying the pattern I will round off the edges of the sides.
The waist of these shorts will be made in grey fabric, so when copying the pattern of the shorts we are using it will not be necessary to add centimeters to the waist.

Luego de cortar la parte delantera de nuestro Short vamos a guiarnos para dibujar la parte de atrás, colocaremos sobre nuestra tela doblada en dos partes, le aumentaré 2 cm en el lateral, le subiré 3 cm en el tiro de atrás y le hago una línea en diagonal para la cintura y en la parte del fundillo le voy a aumentar 3 cm, el ruedo quedará del mismo largo.
Para el lateral de mi Short voy a cortar un retazo en tela gris de 35 cm de largo por 6 cm de ancho, el largo que se le dará en las costuras será de 30 cm pero dejé un excedente de 5 cm para hacerle un ruedo pequeño y doblar lo demás y que no se vea costura por la parte externa.
Para la cintura de este Short vamos a cortar el retazo de tela gris de 12 cm de ancho y el largo lo determinará cuando ya hayamos unido las partes de nuestro short.
After cutting the front of our shorts, we will use the drawing of the back as a guide. We will place it on our fabric folded in two parts. I will add 2 cm on the side, I will add 3 cm on the back hem and I will make a diagonal line for the waist and in the part of the bottom I will add 3 cm, the hem will be the same length.
For the side of my shorts I'm going to cut a piece of grey fabric 35 cm long by 6 cm wide. The length that will be given in the seams will be 30 cm but I left a surplus of 5 cm to make a small hem and fold the rest so that the seam is not visible on the outside.
For the waist of these shorts we are going to cut the 12 cm wide piece of grey fabric and the length will be determined when we have already joined the parts of our shorts.

Ahora vamos a continuar con la confección de la blusa o Top, tomaremos la medida del contorno de busto en este caso es de 91 cm, la medida desde la orilla del hombro hasta debajo del busto es 33 cm, dejaré una distancia de 10 cm para hacer el escote del busto luego bajaré 3 cm y haré una línea en diagonal de 10 cm para el hombro, la medida para el ancho del busto será de 24 cm y en la parte de debajo del busto será de 22 cm, esto será para la parte delantera
Para la parte de atrás voy a guiarme con la delantera, en la parte inferior la copiaré exactamente igual y en la parte superior voy a hacerle unas modificaciones, en el contorno de manga será un poco más hacia adentro, en el escote del cuello será más abajo del delantero.
Cortaremos tiras de 5 cm de ancho en tela gris para colocarle por toda la orilla tanto del Short como del Top.
Now we are going to continue with the making of the blouse or Top, we will take the measurement of the bust contour in this case it is 91 cm, the measurement from the edge of the shoulder to under the bust is 33 cm, I will leave a distance of 10 cm to make the neckline of the bust then I will go down 3 cm and make a diagonal line of 10 cm for the shoulder, the measurement for the width of the bust will be 24 cm and in the part below the bust it will be 22 cm, this will be for the front part
For the back I will be guided by the front, in the lower part I will copy it exactly the same and in the upper part I will make some modifications, in the sleeve contour it will be a little more inward, in the neckline of the neck it will be lower than the front.
We will cut 5 cm wide strips in gray fabric to place along the entire edge of both the Shorts and the Top.

Comenzaré las costuras del Top, uniré por los hombros, luego voy a doblar la tira de tela gris y uniré pasándole costura por toda la orilla luego enderezó y paso otra costura recta por la parte extrema, me gusta mucho este acabado en las orillas y así como está quedando en colores diferente se ve bonito, el mismo procedimiento lo haremos para el contorno de mangas luego unimos con costura por los laterales
I will start the seams of the Top, I will join by the shoulders, then I will fold the strip of gray fabric and join it by sewing along the entire edge, then straighten it and run another straight seam along the extreme part, I really like this finish on the edges and as it is coming out in different colors it looks pretty, we will do the same procedure for the outline of the sleeves then we will join with sewing along the sides.

Este Top llegará justo hasta debajo del busto, le haremos especie de faja justo debajo del busto en tela grisy el contorno será de 90 cm, cortaremos la tira de tela gris de este mismo largo y le uniremos el elástico formando como un aro y luego unimos a nuestra blusa el elástico será de 70 cm.
El elástico lo vamos a ubicar centrado dentro de la tira de tela gris pero no le vamos a pasar costura, trataremos de qué la costura que le vamos a pasar quede muy a la orilla para que lo mantenga prensado pero no con costura visible.
This top will reach just below the bust, we will make a kind of girdle just below the bust in grey fabric and the circumference will be 90 cm, we will cut the grey fabric strip of this same length and we will attach the elastic to it forming a kind of ring and then we will attach the elastic to our blouse, it will be 70 cm.
We will place the elastic centered within the grey fabric strip but we will not sew it, we will try to make the seam that we are going to sew it to be very close to the edge so that it keeps it pressed but not with a visible seam.

Ahora vamos a unir con costura nuestro Short, haremos el mismo procedimiento para colocarle la orilla gris por toda la orilla luego de unir con costura por el tiro delantero y de atrás y el fundillo, al tenerlo listo vamos a unir el retazo de tela gris que va en los laterales le hacemos un ruido finito y doblamos aproximadamente 4 cm y Ubicamos en los laterales de nuestro Short tratando de que nos quede en la misma posición de ambos lados.
Now we are going to sew our shorts together. We will follow the same procedure to place the grey edge along the entire edge after sewing the front and back hem and the gusset. Once it is ready, we are going to join the grey fabric scrap that goes on the sides. We will make a slight noise and fold it approximately 4 cm and place it on the sides of our shorts, trying to keep it in the same position on both sides.

En mis costuras casi siempre están presente mis gatos así que no lees extrañe que en mis fotografías salga asomada alguna patita o alguna carita de gatito 🤭, la cintura del short quedó de 114 cm, es bastante ancha pero me gusta porque así quedará más arruchada, la tela la cortaremos del mismo largo por 12 cm de ancha, el elástico sí lo haremos de70 cm, para la cintura utilizaré un elástico más ancho este será de 5 cm.
Desconozco si esta técnica para hacer la cintura del Short tenga algún nombre pero me gusta mucho este acabado en este tipo de prendas, unimos nuestro elástico a la tira de tela gris pasándole varias costuras y luego unimos a nuestro Short, pasamos costura de esfuerzo y así está lista la confección de este lindo Short
In my seams my cats are almost always present, so don't be surprised if in my photographs a paw or a kitten's face appears peeking out 🤭, the waistline of the shorts was 114 cm, it is quite wide but I like it because it will look more wrinkled, we will cut the fabric the same length by 12 cm wide, the elastic will be 70 cm, for the waist I will use a wider elastic, this will be 5 cm.
I don't know if this technique for making the waist of the Shorts has a name, but I really like this finish on this type of garment. We join our elastic to the strip of grey fabric by sewing it several times and then we join it to our Shorts, we sew a tight seam and that's how these cute Shorts are made.
