Blessed new week to my beloved needlework family. I am more than excited as the days pass by and draws us closer to Christmas with every stroke of the clock ⏰ this means that there are more sewing to be done and plenty of beautiful creations to greet your eyes with.
I have spoken about my schedule in an earlier blog and shared with us how I have successfully been able to manage both my harvest work in the farms with the lots of sewing on ground for Christmas. It’s easy to work in the farm during the light of the day and then do a little bit of sewing every night.
Yesterday was a Sunday and like you all know the Christian custom we rest at home on a Sunday hence I had the time to sew during the afternoons right after attending church service.
I made this beautiful dress with trumpet sleeve for my sister, she will be needing some new clothes to travel with during this Christmas.
Have you ever been excited about the the beauty of what you have created and then the unexpected happens to kill your joy. This was my exact experience with sewing this outfit .
I was overjoyed with the outcome of this pretty dress I have made for my sister and while dancing and ironing it out for delivery, the hot iron burnt off this part of the dress and my face fell.
It is in this season when I need the iron the most that it has gone bad and is now burning out almost every outfit I make during ironing.
It was with a mixture of sweet, stress and sadness that I went about to create a repair in the dress in a way that it won’t be visible that a repair was done.
I just thank my lucky stars that in the middle of it all the dress wasn’t burnt in the chest area or a location where this pretty dress would have been damaged completely.
Just look at how I had cut out the burnt piece and inserted another fabric right here.
My sis has given me the fabric to sew for her and the style she intended to sew with it. I had to convince her about the style she has earlier chosing that it won’t fit her body contour. It’s a difficult thing fo convince people about such and I promise to design for her what will suit her body shape
Having gotten the fabric
I had cut everything here both front and back piece
Then the sewing and the necklines where I have to be mindful of the front slit in other to sew it as smooth as possible
Next I had joined all the pieces
And we have this lovely dress
I’m so happy that the design I had chosen fits the fabric prints well and everything came out pretty
Upon delivering the dress to my sister she could barely recognized that her clothes was burnt in between which made me feel better.

So sorry about the burning part, I know how stressful that experience can be, thankfully, the dress turned out beautifully for your sister
Thanks a lot dear.
I’m not surprised your sister could barely recognize the burnt part because I also can’t even see anything. You really fixed it so well and it’s no news because it’s the pro seamstress we’re talking about 🤭
Well done.
Beautiful work how did you put dior
What a beautiful project. Thank you for sharing it!
You did it great, so sorry, that almost always happens, but I believe she will not recognize the part, because I Know you will did it nice, the dress look so beautiful with the sleeves, well-done dear
