Hello Hive
It gives me joy to try out new craft every time and depending on the season today I decided to practice how to make a sun hat with the remaining African print fabric I have left at home.
It is that season of the year where we have very high temperatures during the day.
It could get very scourging while working on the farm because this is the season we harvest most of our farm crops.
Rice, beans and millet are basically the crops harvested at this time and the work can get so tedious to keep us in the farm all day.
During the morning, dews from harmattan keeps the weather cold but as afternoon approaches temperatures can get so high from the heat of the sun and this can just just handy enough for a shade while working on the farm.
Giving this some good ironing would have given us something more neater and gorgeous but I was out of power supply as usual.
To make a cap all you need is your head circumference measurement.
- Measure your round head mine is 22.
- Cut the three pieces for the cap.
the base, panel and the brim
The base was head circumference divide by 6.28... 22/6.28= 3.6
The panel was head circumference divide by 2.
22/2 = 11
While the brim cut out with 5inches of length after removing the base.
I added thick interfacing to give it some firmness
And sewed the three parts together like this.
That was my sun hat and its gonna get to work any moments from now.
I may as well share with us some pictures about our work in the farm and what harvest is going to be like this season.
Thank you for checking out my blog.
Blessed Sunday Family
