Today I have come to light everywhere up with my fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥 dress 😂😂😂. Guess what this is all about: I want to make my first public appearance for the year burning with passion, zeal, and some career goals. It is a good thing to always pull back, re-strategize, and come back strong. We continue with the goals and passions from last year while setting newer goals for the new year.
I did some sewing last year for customers, friends, and family, but most of the sewing was for a charity sale. I didn't make money from them, or that I probably got some compensation blogging about here. The support from the community has been encouraging; many thanks to you all who helped me achieve some of my last year's dreams and goals.
This year I hope to attract more customers and clients, and this can be a potential turnaround for my fashion career and business. I'm all out to sell my business, and one of the ways I can do this is to show people what I can offer them by my looks.
Another goal I wish to achieve is to work on my skills, improve on what I have learned, and learn the new designs and patterns in vogue.
I have once sewn a cowl neck dress for the very first time, which didn't come out well since it was my first time practicing such. I wanted to try it again, and today I was amazed by how much I have improved.
The fabric is a favorite fire-designed one I have earlier picked from the store. I have wanted to sew a long flare dress with it, but after spreading it on the floor, the fire design pattern flows in a single direction.
If I cut a flare of this, which I so much desired of the fabric, the entire fire pattern will be disrupted, not following a direction and presentable. Hence I had to obey what the fabric says.
Cutting out a gathers of my 3X waist measurement
Then the back bodice from the simple bodice pattern
And the front bodice, where I had to watch several YouTube videos to ensure that I got it right.
Having combined various ideas, I had cut a perfect cowl next that I desired.
There are different types of cowl necklines, and I wanted to practice two of them, second design will come in my next blog.
I moved to joining the seam and sewing the interfacing to the necklines.

And then the sleeves.
Guess what? The half-length of my clothes became longer after the fabric overstretched, but I don't have the energy to undo that for now.
All that makes me happy is that I finally mastered how to sew a cowl neck design, and I have the perfect outfit to make that light appearance I desired.

One thing I haven't been privilege to own yet is a full standing mirror to show you a reflection of how this dress looks on me and since I am yet to head out, I haven't gotten anyone to give me a shot in the dress.
