Sewing my first Ever Basked Bustier ๐Ÿ‘— ๐Ÿ‘—๐Ÿ‘—

Hello, beautiful people.

I finally made it with sewing my first-ever bustier basket dress.
They are the new designs in town, and hence everybody wants to wear a corset, a basket dress, or any of the reigning designs. I decided to try sewing a basket dress for my sister for the festivity celebration. ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

The first time I tried sewing such a dress, I ruined everything such that the front and back blocks weren't aligning. I kept on cutting it without much understanding until the entire outfit was ruined and couldn't fit my measurements.

While sewing this, I gave the measurements and technique a keen attention.

My sister has bought just 2 yards of the fabric for me to sew for her, not knowing that the fabric will not be enough. Most times I wish that people would consult a stylist/designer first before going on to purchase fabrics so that we can help them out with the measurements of the quantity of fabrics that will be enough for them.

People go ahead and buy fabrics believing that designers bear a magic that will make insufficient fabrics enough for making their outfits.

Certainly, two yards of fabric can't be enough for an adult of size 6 unless they want to sew a simple outfit with no sleeves or much design.

I have to start cracking my head working around the fabric to ensure that it is enough. It is in the midst of this that I realized that there was no way out and that I have to get some other materials to mix with the African print fabric before it will be enough.

I had gone to purchase a dark teal green color of plain satin but couldn't find any and had to use this lighter shade instead. I almost thought that it wouldn't match well with the fabric, but I seem to like the look of it already.

I kept working around creating patterns and her measurements.

Plenty of sewing and ironing and a little touch of embroidery to add some designs to our clothes.

It is obvious that I made little mistakes here and there with this one, but it looks much better than the previous dress I have sewn.
More so, I am glad that I have given it a second try, and guess what? I have picked up all the tricks required in sewing this.

The measurements of the front and back are tricky, and the slightest mistakes can cost you some length.

The dress is completed, and so is the fabric used. They are exhausted now, and we do not have a sleeve yet. You can imagine how much I have managed to the fabric just for it to be enough.

I'm thinking of purchasing some tulle/net that will be used for the sleeves since we do not have any other option now. What do you think of the dress?l

This is pretttttttyyyyyy. Love it!!!

The design of the fabric is beautiful. You're right, I also had no idea how much fabric goes into a garment of my size. Although I don't know about dresses, I think tulle sleeves would look good on her.

Tulle materials will do too.
But I think it has to be flounce or any sleeve style that's lousy so it could complement and add more beauty to the dress.

In between, this is elegant for a first time attempt.
