Hi, needleworkers! It's been a while since I blogged and I'm resuming with a crochet post. I made crochet water bottle holders or bags as some call them. I made them in different designs and colours because I was going to sell them at the youth conference I was attending.
I saw them on Pinterest and fell in love with them so off I went. I did not even need to buy yarn because I already had one or two balls of different colours of yarn — they don't consume a lot of yarn.
The first design I made was the sunburst granny square one. To begin, I made 12 double crochets in a magic ring with yellow yarn.
Next, I completed the flower by making 12 popcorn stitches. My daisy was all ready at this point. The water bottle holder needed 4 granny squares so I made 4 of the flowers so I would not need to go back to that step.
It was time to complete the granny squares. I did that by putting 3 double crochets in-between the popcorn stitches but 2 sets at every corner. I did 3 rows of this. For this part, I used light pink yarn and for the entire project, 3.5mm hook.
For the remaining 3 granny squares, I did only 2 rounds because the plan was to join it to the other granny square(s) and complete it as I joined. This joining style is easier. It was my first time trying it since I saw it in a couple of YouTube tutorials some time ago.
Soon I had 2 granny squares.
Then 3 granny squares.
And 4 granny squares as I needed.
I could have made the bottom by doing a circle of 4 rounds of double crochets like this,
but I decided to try another design that only required pulling the sides together with yarn like a drawstring till the hole is almost closed.
The only thing left was to add the straps. Unlike the other ones I eventually crocheted for which I made the straps of double crochets, this one was a Romanian cord which I hadn't tried before then. I made it long enough to enable me hang the holder across my body because the plan was to be able to hang the holder in a variety of ways — crossbody, on one shoulder and even on the neck. Voila! My granny square water bottle holder was complete! How does it look?
In the following days, I made more colours.
This was my favourite.
There was another one in cloud blue but I did not take pictures of it unfortunately.
I also made other designs of water bottle holders in mesh stitches. I'll have to make another post about those ones. Watch out for that. Believe me, they look as gorgeous as the sunburst granny square ones.
Till then, guys. Ciao!✌
