Y es que planear metas a corto y mediano plazo nos ayuda a ver que nos falta por hacer, que podemos corregir y también nos deja muy claro hasta donde hemos llegado en nuestro camino.
Precisamente eso me hizo pensar en estos dÃas que, a veces, también recordar algunas cosas del pasado nos puede ayudar a ver claramente estas otras que ya mencioné. Nos permite ver cuánto hemos logrado.
Greetings artist friends 😉 Happy beginning of the week and of the month to all. How are the plans for these days? I wish, God willing, that what we think so much for these days will be given to us 💫
And is that planning short and medium term goals helps us to see what we still have to do, what we can correct and also makes us very clear how far we have come on our way.
Precisely that made me think these days that, sometimes, remembering some things from the past can also help us to clearly see these other things I mentioned. It allows us to see how much we have achieved.
Por ejemplo, si me voy a mis inicios en el mundo de la costura, me doy cuenta cuanto he logrado gracias a Dios y personas como ustedes que me inspiran tanto.
Esta bata o pijama que les muestro en la foto fue la primera pieza que hice yo solita. Una amiga me dio el patrón. Ella misma lo calco en un papel (yo no tenÃa ni idea de cómo se hacÃa un patrón) y me lo dio. Luego me explicó como la iba a hacer y ya.
For example, if I go back to my beginnings in the world of sewing, I realize how much I have achieved thanks to God and people like you who inspire me so much.
This robe or pajamas that I show you in the picture was the first piece I made by myself. A friend gave me the pattern. She traced it herself on a piece of paper (I had no idea how to make a pattern) and gave it to me. Then she explained to me how she was going to make it and that was it.
Al llegar a casa corté esta tela preciosa que conseguà en la tienda de telas y me puse, cual novata, a darle pedal a mi máquina 😅 Me sentà tan orgullosa del resultado. No podÃa creer que habÃa creado algo por primera vez. Yo la vi bonita por todos lados. Y de verdad lo era para ese momento y con esa experiencia.
When I got home I cut this beautiful fabric that I got at the fabric store and I started, like a novice, to pedal my machine 😅 I was so proud of the result. I couldn't believe I had created something for the first time. I saw it beautiful everywhere. And it really was for that moment and with that experience.
Hoy, pasado unos añitos, me di a la tarea de revisar mi bata de punta a punta viendo cada costura que habÃa hecho. Y me decidà a descoserla y volverla a coser, mejorarando algunas cositas en ella para seguir dándole más uso.
Me alegró tanto darme cuenta lo que he seguido aprendiendo y cosiendo que querÃa compartirlo con ustedes.
Today, after a few years, I took the task of reviewing my robe from end to end, looking at every seam I had made. And I decided to unpick it and sew it again, improving some little things on it to continue giving it more use.
I was so happy to realize what I have continued to learn and sew that I wanted to share it with you.

He aprendido que coser a pie de máquina permite que la costura quede muy linda, pero si coso dejando mucho margen de tela le estoy quitando talla o medida a la pieza.
Y algo importante que te puede ahorrar tiempo y energÃa es coser con una puntada ancha en vez de una más estrecha. Créeme, lo agradezco a la hora de descoser 😅 Además, que si toca alar la costura o la tela esta no se romperá.
I have learned that sewing by machine allows the seam to look very nice, but if I sew leaving too much fabric margin I am taking size or measurement away from the piece.
And something important that can save you time and energy is to sew with a wide stitch instead of a narrower one. Believe me, I appreciate it when it comes to unpicking 😅 Also, if you have to lengthen the seam or the fabric, it won't tear.

También he aprendido que el ruedo de una prenda (bien sea en el bajo o en una manga) puede ser sencillo, no siempre doble. Lo importante es que al hacerlo asà el restante de tela se corte bien parejito para que quede un buen acabado.
De igual forma he visto que no es necesario acelerar tanto mi máquina a la hora de trabajar en ella. Eso me ha ayudado mucho con la paciencia, pues entiendo que todo proceso necesita su tiempo para avanzar.
I have also learned that the hem of a garment (either at the bottom or on a sleeve) can be simple, not always double. The important thing is that when doing so, the remaining fabric is cut evenly so that it has a good finish.
I have also seen that it is not necessary to speed up my machine so much when working on it. This has helped me a lot with patience, because I understand that every process needs time to move forward.
Y, finalmente, veo la belleza en el patronaje. Pero de eso les estaré hablando pronto 😀
Asà quedó mi "antigua - nueva" bata 😄 Mucho más cómoda y fresca y con mejores terminaciones. Y yo me siento muy feliz de haber completado este reto personal que me puse.
Definitivamente, todo tiene su tiempo y su proceso. Por eso al mirar atrás lo hago con agradecimiento. Asà veo, no tanto cuanto me he equivocado, sino más bien me ha permitido ver lo lejos que he llegado.

This is what my "old - new" robe looked like 😄 Much more comfortable and fresh. I met this personal challenge I set myself and that makes me very happy.
Definitely, everything has its time and process. That is why I look back with gratitude. This way I see, not so much how much I have made mistakes, but rather it has allowed me to see how far I have come.

Looking back at our very first work really makes us realize hpw far we've reached already. We can do that everytime we feel like we're not making any progress. We can tell ourselves that we're not yet where we want to be but at least we are farther from where we've been. :)

Hola amiga, que emocionante es ver cuanto se ha avanzado en la costura; me pasó algo similar uno de mis primeros proyectos lo descosà luego de varios años, corté los excesos de tela con más precisión y el resultado me encantó.
Es cierto coser con puntada ancha, ahorra tiempo al momento de descoser, también hay telas como la micro durazno que es un poco complicada para descoser porque se rompe; ðŸ˜ðŸ¤£ las telas rÃgidas como dacrón, sabana y vichy son sencillas de descoser, regularmente las uso para lencerÃa de bebé y no tengo problema para descoser 🤣😚pero cuando se trata de telas con elongación lo pienso mucho antes de descoser ðŸ¤ðŸ˜…🤣
