Good Monday to all our creative community!!! I hope this week has been productive for you and that you are doing well!
My work on the black jacket is slowly progressing. In the meantime, I did an audit of my wardrobe and found two skirts. It turned out that I had problems with this skirts 😕
You already see it, right? 😭 For these skirts, I need to lose weight urgently. Or give them to someone thinner than me. But I love these skirts very much: they are very practical, made of natural fabric and, in fact, are eternal things!
I can fasten buttons on them but it is not very comfortable for me in the stomach area. So I want to make them a little wider at the waist.
But I don't know yet how to do it. There are several difficulties for me. The first is that these are not ordinary buttons, but metal buttons on both skirts.
And the second - the fabric of both skirts is quite dense.
I actually have no idea what I can do. Can I sew an insert in front that will have a button on one side and a loop on the other? This will allow you to slightly expand the skirt, but you do not need to open the side seams and remove the belt. I have a very cheap sewing machine; it will not be able to sew such a dense fabric that is formed when sewing a belt to a skirt. Maybe you have some ideas for me? I'll be very grateful! 🙏

Take care of yourself and be healthy!
Beautiful thanks for sharing
Wow nice styles
Thank you!
Hey, go with the flow. Don't worry, take one at the time, feel your creativity, cut and sew, add whatever you want.
Thanks! but I have almost no experience in sewing. so I feel very insecure 😃
loop an elastic band through the buttonhole, loop one end through the other, so the elastic band is fixed in the buttonhole, then loop the free end over the button. Voila!
thank you very much my dear! I thought to do something similar with a piece of fabric on one end of which to make a loop and on the other a button. but your version is much easier! 😃🌼🌼🌼
ohnooooo I feel you. I had this problem seeral years ago, it felt as if my whole wardrobe (mostly skirts) were too small. At this time I had not learned to sew so I brought the skirts to a seamstress because it would have ben a shame to give the skirts away.
And she altered them with a new wider waistband or inserted fabric at both sides of the skirt into the waistband (th skirts were all flared and fit me still on the hips)
You could do this on the corduroy skirt and perhaps also add a bit width in general at the side seams.
But there are several other techniques... of which I tried neither :-DD
I think the brown skirt will be easier to alter as it has no pockets (or does it?) and is wider. Here you could unpick the waistband, cut a bt of the heigt from the skirt untill it fits sour waist and then attach a new wider waistband..
here is blog post with a similar methd

thanks a lot for the ideas my dear! in my country it is cheaper to go to the store and buy a new skirt than to go to a seamstress. 😕 besides, a good seamstress is hard to find. It's great that you had the opportunity to save your wardrobe! yes, you are right, there are no pockets in the brown one. and in the yellow skirt is. I'm afraid that if I take off the belt, then I won't be able to sew it back on - my sewing machine won't be able to handle it because the fabric is too thick. I remembered: my friend saved my favorite dress like that. she cut off the top of the skirt to the point where the skirt already lay well on my figure. as a result, the dress became a little shorter. but since it was very long, removing a little length did not spoil it. 😃
