First of all, I LOVE the story of the bag as well as the story how you met @vincentnijman!
It's great to see you give this bag another life and from what I see in this post, you are putting your heart and soul into it so it must end up a master piece, no matter how it ends up looking.
Sadly, I never learned how to sew properly, it's been on my list forever but hand sewing (the times I tried it) always turned out not so great so I told myself I'd not start sewing until I have the space and time for a machine to help me do it. So far, that hasn't happened (which is fine).
I do love upcycling stuff though, but usually with very minimal sewing because my hands hurt too much when I do it.. Lately I've also started to buy second hand clothing over new stuff and I love it. Better quality for less money, so I'm a fan of you blowing new life into things.
I'm pretty sure eventually your house together will end up amazing!
