My Impromptu Crochet socks

There is no other relaxing feeling than hanging your feet on the table while slouching and doing nothing; basically waiting for time to pass by. But when will I be able to do that? Oh, I would love to do that but I guess I won't be doing that soon. I am imprisoned of my needs and I really need to grind to make money to sustain the never-ending needs I have.

Anyway, I had a brief moment to do that for the picture-taking of my newly made socks; of course, I crocheted them myself and I am so impressed that I finished the pair in less than two hours.

It's been two weeks since the weather started to change. The rain that I had been praying for came and trained almost every afternoon, and at night too. The temperature is now cooler at night and we don't have to have the electric fan work till morning.

And because of the rain, my shoes got wet and I don't wear wet shoes. I actually had five pairs of shoes; all are wet because the sun could not dry them before the rain starts again on the next day so I wore sandals. These sandals were left by someone on the basketball court and my husband found them and brought them home; finders keepers it is!

I don't have any choice but to wear the sandals; I am allowed to wear them at work, I have my steel-toe boots ready there. And because the sandals are too big for me, it hurts my feet every time I move.

Way back long ago, I made a pair of crochet socks so an idea came and made another pair for me to use.

I rushed doing the first sock; the AC is on and I felt cold. I made 11 chains and had six double crochets on each end and 9 double crochets in between. I added 14 more double crochets on top of each double crochets; 15 round in total and added 8 rows of 21 double crochets for the heel.

I only guessed the length of the sock given I tried the socks on even if it was not yet finished and closed the stitches on the last row and added an alternate front post double crochet and back post double crochets for it to fit on my ankle.

I started my project a little past 12 noon, after I had my lunch, and finished them before two in the afternoon. I even ran out of the yarn I was using and added a yarn of another color. #lols

Here are some pictures of me trying the first piece. I was very satisfied with my work and I am so happy with the result

Some called these feet cozies but, yeah still work as socks do; protect the feet from pain caused by shoe wears.

It does not look like much; I only used the yarns I had, a 4-ply soft indophil yarn and a 3mm crochet hook. I has huge holes and it helps the feet feel fresh yet cozy at the same time.

I wore the socks before the sandals and I felt a huge relief and comfort with it. And because I was very happy with what I just made, I showed it to my colleagues and one of them asked me to make one for him too! I actually finished it earlier and I will be showing it to him tomorrow. I don't expect for a huge pay; his patronage is already a reward for me.

Ther I was, lounging for a few seconds to flex my work. I am just glad my camera focused on the socks, not on t eh hairs on my legs, haha!

Before I leave, I would like to ask my fellow crocheters; have you made crochet socks before? I was thinking I should use a smaller hook or a larger yarn size for a finer texture, would you agree?

What about you, what do you think of my work? I was thinking I might not be buying socks from now on, haha! that would be huge savings for me.
