Kicking off 2024 NaPodPoMo - National Podcast Post Month (napodpomo.org)

Exploring some realizations about old notes and archiving. The short version is that much of old notebooks is junk that can be tossed. It is necessary to actively curate what you keep rather than let old documents pile up.

In this episode, Shaine Mata talks about his experience with National Podcast Post Month (NaPodPoMo), a project started by his friend Jennifer. NaPodPoMo involves recording 30 podcast episodes within 30 days. The goal is to help people get started with podcasting. Shaine discusses the benefits of participating in NaPodPoMo, such as getting over the initial hurdles of podcasting, finding your voice, and getting yourself started in creating something. He also talks about the different tools that can be used for podcasting, such as GarageBand and Vimeo.

Shaine then discusses the Hive blockchain, which is a cryptocurrency that is geared towards storing text. He explains how Hive can be used for blogging and microblogging. Shaine also mentions that there is a NaPodPoMo community on Hive where people can post their episodes.

Shaine then talks about his plans for his faceless YouTube channel. He plans to start off with some productivity posts. Shaine then talks about his experience with Evernote, a multimedia type of storage system. Shaine has been using Evernote since 2007 to store his notes and information. He is now in the process of deleting some of his old notes and copying some of his notes over to Obsidian, a tool that allows you to do very simple formatting of your text.

Shaine then talks about his experience with The Brain, a mind mapping tool. Shaine finds that The Brain is a good tool for organizing files on the computer. However, Shaine is not currently using The Brain because he is trying to get away from the computer.

Shaine then talks about his process of managing notes. He is starting to realize the disposability of a lot of his information and is starting to get rid of a lot of things. Shaine is also periodically going through his Google Drive and Dropbox and deleting old documents.

Shaine then talks about the benefits of using the Hive blockchain. He believes that Hive is a good place to store content because it is permanent. Shaine also mentions that he has had content disappear from other websites, such as blip.tv and Pownce.

Shaine then talks about his plans for NaPodPoMo. He plans to post his videos on YouTube and Hive. Shaine also mentions that he thought about doing it on Vimeo, but he does not want to pay for Vimeo.

Finally, Shaine wraps up the video by inviting people to join NaPodPoMo and share their experiences.

I've been kicking around the idea of doing a faceless Youtube channel too. I can't wait to follow along and see how yours evolves.

I've seen some successful channels in which it's just a screen share and the person talking. No need to worry about lighting, appearance, or background. Just record and post. They tend to be single topic and go over articles.
