Street I have never been

in Street Photography9 months ago

I don't wanna go anywhere with a bus.
We don't have to, plenty streets around us, walking distance destinations only.
Where did you plan, did you plan anything at all?
Umm, not really, just wanna go out and shoot!
Okay, I'll take you to the street you probably never have been before.

Usually this is how ours 'going for a walk' starts, where are we heading to often depends are we in the mood to bring cameras or enjoy it fully carefree. Day is bright and sunny, whole morning I was admiring it trough window glued in front of the screen.

Work done, lunch done...

...grab water, pack water, where is the backpack?
I don't know, it was there.
Can't find it, other time...let's go!

On the right across the street, downhill... True, I have never been here, knowing that leads me in the direction I never needed neither I was curios enough to just go and wander.

Layers of solitaires and low-rise buildings, occasional cityscape view between houses who stretches along the already steep street.

View I was haunting since last week (suddenly stumped on perfect viewpoint not so far from our place). Avala tower can be seen in the distance, from this point it's 10 kilometers away. Blossomed trees are already visible and slightly change the perspective of the landscapes.

Although I am in the municipality to which this area also belongs, I have never liked it, this particular part of the city. Rakovica, once a famous industrial settlement, known for its residential complexes built for the needs of people employed in factories, also Rakovica was the stronghold of one of the largest engine factories IMR.
Nowadays it looks dilapidated and sad, and even the factory is no longer functional.
To me this place is imperative for dirty streets and trash scattered around, lot's of traffic, sidewalks parked cars and annoying constant street crossing as sometimes you just can not pass by a parked car on exact place where you should be walking!

Hope this explains hate, let it be and don't pass around here, problem solved!

Late I found out we are heading right there, in the core of my not fav. stroll path!

Be patient till we reach the overpass, just a little bit more...

..and we did it, two kilometers later. Overpass bought me, otherwise I would have returned home with less than ten photos taken, throw away what isn't good, what is left - not enough.

I am walking already for too long to end up like that!

Military medical Academy 8,3 kilometers away. Golden hour veil was sliding down the roofs and facades. Typical brutalism project, leaves you breathless forty years later.

In the foreground of the photo, you can see a part of the building of the above-mentioned factory.

The traffic jam is heating up, all forms of transportation are active at this time of day - 5 pm, was too busy to count how many vehicles passed the overpass while we were taking photos, but my ears was on guard enough to hear a few curses from nervous drivers.

(apparently some still haven't figured out cursing doesn't speed up traffic)

This Lego pile won picture of the day status, same time we arrived to the bus station. Deal was not to go with one but no one mentioned how we gonna get back, and I am not heading uphill today!

Aaa-aaaa!

Street where I didn't take a single shot, street where I have never been.

Sort:

I remember Rakovica just for some piano competitions that were held there, in the music school.

And for a moment I thought the white trees are of that colour because of snow but then I realized those are the blooming trees you mentioned. 💮

There are few cute parts (with good view) and that's all :D

My memories of snow are fading slowly, it was long time ago since seeing it... (sigh)
