(ENG-ESP) Back To the Future DELOREAN handmade with soda can

Hello friends from Hive, today after a week of absence I want to show my latest work. I was reviewing some images and I found an old poster of Back To The Future, one of the best science fiction franchises of the 80s. That is why I decided to make the time machine created by Doc to travel with Marty McFly to have adventures in different eras. The car is made with soda cans and some electronic waste such as cables and plastic. It is a scale model following the original model. I hope you like it and it is to your liking.

Hola amigos de Hive, hoy después de una semana de ausencia quiero mostrar mi ultimo trabajo. Estuve revisando algunas imagenes y me encontré con un viejo poster de Volver Al Futuro, una de las mejores franquicias de ciencia ficción de los 80. Por eso decidí hacer la máquina del tiempo creada por el Doc para viajar junto a Marty McFly a tener aventuras en distintas eras. El auto esta hecho con latas de soda y algunos desechos electronicos como cables y plastico. Es un modelo a escala siguiendo el modelo original. Espero les guste y sea de su agrado.

Process

To make this car model we draw some templates following the original model. I tried to find some papercraft but they were all too big and had too many pieces. Some up to 250 pieces. So I decided to draw them only by taking the most colorful parts. Then cut the cans, a total of eight cans, put them in the form of a sheet and work it to paste the cuts of the drawings and thus cut and remove each piece to join them.

Para hacer este modelo de auto dibujamos unas plantillas siguiendo el modelo original. Yo trate de buscar algunas de papercraft pero todas eran muy grandes y tenian demasiadas piezas. Algunas hasta de 250 piezas. Asi que decidi dibujarlas solo tomando aquellas partes mas vistosas. Luego cortar las latas, un total de ocho latas, ponerlas en forma de lamina y obre ella pegar los recortes de los dibujos y asi cortar y sacar cada pieza para ir uniendolas.

First, to make this model we started with the part of the body that goes on the side parts. Left part and right part. There are 4 pieces in total and then they are joined to form two. You can see the place of the doors and also of the wheels.

Primero para hacer este modelo comenzamo con la parte de la carroceria que va en las partes laterales. Parte izquierda y parte derecha. Son 4 piezas en total y despues se unen para formar dos. Puede apreciarse el lugar de las puertas y tambien de las ruedas.

Then we take out the frames for the doors that go inside the car. We paint them black with spray paint. We also remove the part of the front hood and glue it to the pieces that we had previously.

Despues sacamos los marcos para las puertas que van dentro del auto. Los pintamos de color negro con pintura en aerosol. Tambien sacamos la parte del capó delantero y lo pegamos a las piezas que teniamos anteriormente.

The next steps are to put the roof and the windshield that are part of the same piece. For the glass we can use transparent plastic from bottles or acrylic. We also place the fenders of the car in the front and in the rear.

Los pasos siguientes son ponerle el techo y el parabrisas que forman parte de la misma pieza. Para el vidrio podemos utilizar plastico transparente de botellas o acrilico. Tambien colocamos las defensas del auto en su parte frontal y en la parte trasera.

We also put the doors, cut them from the drawings we made at the beginning and then fit them to the car. To make the doors open and close I could use small hinges of the kind used by wooden boxes. They are placed on the inside so the doors can open and close.

Tambien colocamos las puertas, las cortamos de los dibujos que hicimos al principio y luego las ajustamos al auto. Para lograr que las puertas abran y cierren le pude unas bisagras pequeñas de las que usan las cajitas de madera. Se las coloque por la parte interior y asi las puertas pueden abrir y cerrarse.

We make the internal part of the car that consists of two seats and the control for the speeds and we glue it on the lower part that is uncovered. Then we start with the added details, like the rear spoilers. We paint them with black paint and put them on the car.

Hacemos la parte interna del auto que consta de dos asientos y el mando para las velocidades y lo pegamos por la parte inferior que esta descubierta. Luego comenzamos con los detalles agregados, como los alerones traseros. Los pintamos con pintura negra y se los ponemos al auto.

Another detail is to add the cables that are striking of the time machine. We can use cables from devices that we are no longer using such as radios or TV, also usb cables that are no longer working. We place them in their respective well-adjusted places with glues and thus our model will remain.

Otro de los detalles es agregar los cables que son llamativos de la maquina del tiempo. Podemos usar cables de artefactos que ya noo estemos usando como radios o TV, tambien cables usb que ya no esten funcionando. Se los colocamos en sus respectivos lugares bien ajustados con pegamentos y asi ira quedando nuestro modelo.

To finish we put the device that helps to channel the energy to travel in time and that goes in the middle of the two ailerons. We also make the wheels. I was thinking of making the wheels normal for the author to roll but it occurred to me to put the wheels horizontally as when the car is going to travel through time. To make the wheels we use a circular wooden stick and for the wheels we use soda lids. We go through the lids with a hole and through there we introduce the wooden tube. The plastic caps as they were colored I painted them black

Para finalizar colocamos el aparato que ayuda a canalizar la energiapara viajar en el tiempo y que va en medio de los dos alerones. Tambien hacemos las ruedas. Yo pensaba hacer las ruedas normal para que el autor rodara pero se me ocurrio poner las ruedas de forma horizontal como cuando el auto va a hacer un viaje en el tiempo. Para hacer las ruedas usamos un palo de madera circular y para las ruedas usamos tapas de refresco. Atravesamos las tapas con un hoyo y por ahi introducimos el tubo de madera. Las tapas de plastico como eran de colores las pinte de color negro.

Final Work

This is how the Delorean Time Machine has been. It measures approximately 20 cm long by 10 wide and 8 cm high. To keep it floating, I put a hard drive motor base on it. All items are recycling and waste that are no longer used. I hope you liked my explanation of the process of how I did it, it took me 4 days to do this job. Asi ha quedado el Delorean Máquina del tiempo. Mide aproximadamente unos 20 cm de largo por 10 de ancho y 8 cm de alto. Para que quedara flotando le puse una base del motor de un disco duro. Todos los elementos son de reciclaje y desechos que ya no se utilizan. Espero que les haya gustado mi explicación del proceso de como lo hice, tardé en hacer este trabajo 4 días.
