Did you know that there are several ways to make use of those old CDs you no longer use? Yes! Just like you're reading it!

Those CDs or DVDs that are scratched, that you don't like their music the way you did years ago, or that movie that scared you so much and that makes you laugh today, can be very useful. So, instead of getting rid of them, recycle them!

¿Sabes que hay varias formas de darle uso a esos CDs viejos que ya no usas? ¡Si! ¡Así como lo estás leyendo!

Esos CDs o DVDs que están rayados, que ya su música no te gusta como te gustaba años atrás o esa película que tanto te asustaba y que hoy en día, te causa risa, pueden ser de mucha utilidad. Así que, en vez de deshacerte de ellos, ¡recíclalos!

For this publication, I wanted to make a pencil holder with these CDs, because at my sister's house, I saw that she had a similar one and I started to look at it in detail, realizing how easy it was to make.

The materials used to make the pencil holder, we all have them usually at home.

Para esta publicación, quise hacer un portalápices con estos CDs, porque en casa de mi hermana, vi que tenía uno parecido y me puse a verlo detalladamente, dándome cuenta de lo fácil que se veía el realizarlo.

Los materiales utilizados para hacer el portalápiz, todos los tenemos usualmente en casa.

The first thing you will do with the ruler, is take 4 CDs and draw a line 1 centimeter wide, in which we will take as a base and a line 7 centimeters high, from both sides, as you see in the image below.

Then, with the scissors, you will cut both lines where they have been drawn. If you prefer, you can cut it with the exact cutter

Lo primero que harás con la regla, es tomar 4 CDs y trazar una línea de 1 centímetro de ancho, en lo que tomaremos como base y una línea de 7 centímetros de alto, de ambos lados, como lo ves el la imagen a continuación.

Luego, con la tijera, vas a cortar ambas líneas por donde han sido trazadas. Si prefieres, puedes cortarlo con el cortador exacto.

The CD that we have not used, is the one that we will take as the base of the pencil holder.

The hole in the center, we can cover it with foami, cardboard, paper, or whatever you prefer and have at hand.

I put red foami, because it's the one I had left from the crafts I made last December.

El CD que no hemos usado, es el que tomaremos como base del portalápices.

El orificio del centro, lo podemos tapar con foami, con cartón, con papel, o con lo que prefieras y tengas a la mano.

Yo coloqué foami rojo, porque es el que me quedaba de las manualidades que hice en Diciembre pasado.

Now, with the CDs cut, we will proceed to fit one into the other, on the sides that were cut.

Then, with the silicone gun, we will glue it from the base and reinforce each of the sides with a silicone point on each one.

Ahora, con los CDs cortados, procederemos a encajar uno con otro, por los lados que fueron cortados.

Luego, con la pistola de silicón, lo pegaremos de la base y reforzaremos cada uno de los lados con un punto de silicón en cada uno.

Then, if you prefer, you can decorate each side of the pencil holder, to cover the holes. I used the shiny foami again and made a flower and a heart for each side.

With this, we finished making the pencil holder from recyclable material.
