Closing the first layer up on the scuttle

in Build-It6 days ago

With the rust cut out and surrounding metal treated, I got to work welding in ptches of metal.

I learnt my lesson on the previous side, where I had tried to create one large piece and weld it in in one go. Not having the necessary tools meant it took me ages to get it to fit right.

This time, with the smaller pieces there was less shaping to do and I managed to get more done is much shorter space of time.

I even managed to get a good shape in the layer that wraps around the pillar, using the top panel of the scuttle to ensure it fit correctly.

I traced the shape of the lip of windscreen opening to cut a plate to shape, this was rusted away on the piece I cut out and I want to ensure the thickness is consistent for the windscreen rubber. This would be welded onto the scuttle later.

With this layer done it was time for some more paint.
