Closing up the lower front door opening

in Build-It7 months ago

Some more rust cut out and replaced with new metal.

The lip on the sill where the door rubber goes was pretty rusted, so I cut the inner and outer parts off, then welded back a new inner part, finally I added metal to the outside and ground the welds down.

For the front section I replicated the original parts shape as it transitions to the bottom of the sill. It has a cut out section, I emulated this by drilling a hole of the same size and finally cutting a similar angle to the passenger side.

Now I am at an impasse, I want to get paint inside the sill but I still need to weld the part of the inner brace back, meaning that the paint would burn off 😕

Given how sick and tired I am of working on the cars floor I will likely replicate the repairs on the passenger side.
