It’s the 09 March 2025 in New Zealand, only yesterday did I hear about an incident that happened last Sunday 2nd March 2025.

I watched a video yesterday on FB of a man on the ground, a taser attached to him, a woman constable holding the taser while kicking him. It appears she also had a gun as she laid it down to kick him some more.

There was already a dog attacking him on the ground and two constables dealing to him. I then saw another constable come from the right side, kneeling and punching this man on the ground.

This man is Faasala Sam Matue.

The news articles state the car he was in was a vehicle of interest to the police and they tried to stop it but failed. From there, it all escalated to the point of his death at the scene.

None of us know the exact details, and to be honest, I don’t ever trust what the media or the NZ Police say. My personal experience is they lie and do so to hide their abuse. Only this time, someone videoed it from afar. All caught clearly on camera.

This isn’t the first time an incident with NZ Police has resulted in death for the victim. The last one I remember was in 2022 with Kaoss Price. Again, according to the media and NZ Police, they were doing a routine police stop, where his friend was pulled over. Kaoss turned around in his car and rammed a police dog van, then tried to hijack someone's car. Police then shot him.

Like I said, according to the NZ Police… however, the locals know differently.

Dave Latele, a well-known community leader has started a petition on behalf of the family of Faasala Sam Matue. A call for accountability and for NZ Police to wear bodycams. I’ve seen quite a few petitions in the last few years calling for police to wear bodycams but for some reason they just never result in anything. I hope this time is different.

He Ngaakau Titikaha fully supports this cause.

Rest in peace to Faasala Sam Matue, Kaoss Price, Steven Wallace and anyone that’s ever been killed by NZ Police and condolenses to all whanau (family).

Note: My opinion and experiences are my own, yours may be different and I respect that.
