Jinak brouk je úplně běžný rozšířený v Evropě i Asii. Žere listy a květy stromů i keřů a larvy požírají kořínky zeleniny i trávy. Takže se dá říct, že škodí, kde se dá. No tomu vyhynutí nehrozí.
