Good day to everyone on the Hive blockchain!

Here is another edition of Insects of the World Curation Report where we bring to you the bests out of the bests in the community. We all know that even among the panoply of posts that are published in the community daily, a few usually stand out.

Before going into the business of the day, it would do us a lot of good if we can refreshen our memory concerning what is required of us in the community. A user will do almost nothing wrong if they can stick to the following RULES:

  • There must be multiple images of the insect in question, shot from different angles by the author himself and capturing the essential features. Images should be well resolved and not edited in any form besides resizing.

  • Images must be accompanied by DESCRIPTIVE TEXT or a nice article relating to the images. The community is not photography, remember. Tell us something about the images you are posting.

  • The SCIENTIFIC NAME of your shown species should be written in the title. It is also APPRECIATED if you are adding a full identification and as many details as possible to your chosen species, such as appearance, diet, peculiarities and more.

  • The chosen insect should be unique in a way. 10 posts with images of the same species will definitely be boring. SO please avoid common insects except there is something unique about them that has rarely been seen in the community.

  • Engagement is key! There is no community without engagement.

Here are our CURATED POSTS for this week ^^

@sreypovMilionia Basalis Moth

Today is a good day without rain. I continue to mow the grass in the river. While I was cutting with a knife, many insects were flying around me, and many kinds of butterflies were flying. I wanted only to cut the grass and do not want to take pictures of them today. it made me have to take pictures of it...

@enovfHONEY BEES IN ONION FLOWERS

I'm dropping by to leave you a beautiful video that I made while I was making a visit to the chive and onion fields in the mountains, the whole field was in bloom and in the environment the bees were walking with great freedom doing their valuable and important work...

@teungkulikBlack Army Fly Insect (Hermetia illucens)

imagen.png

Hermetia illucens or Black Army Flies is a type of fly from the family Stratiomyidae with the genus Hermetia, species Hermetia illucens. To find this sport, of course, I have to look for piles of organic waste. I got this fly in a pile of sago pulp which I saw as organic fertilizer on potted plants...

@cosmictriageThe Branded Tussock Moth (when it's a fuzz ball)

Check out this wee beauty! It's another one of those "omigosh, I took a picture of it" moments from my archives. The Big Guy (my hubby) told me that this was a moth larvae when I saw it in our backyard last fall, and I couldn't believe that something this pretty was just a "common" moth...

@elentogetherCoccinella transversalis

Hello beautiful community of Hive and Insects of the world. In my land, amaranth is easily produced both in the lawn when it has not been cut for a long time, as well as on sidewalks, roadsides and abandoned buildings...

DNA - Densifying Nature-Appreciation

IMG_20200208_120948.png

The Insects of the World Community is part of the awesome DNA project (Densifying Nature-Appreciation). DNA searches for HIGH-QUALITY posts that aim to DESCRIBE and determine the BIODIVERSITY AROUND YOU with added EXPLANATIONS and INFORMATION. For these informative posts DNA offers a CURATION SERVICE using the @dna.org account. It is also a CURATION TRAIL. At the moment DNA is also the home of #amazingnature hosted by @adalger, the #aquaticsentinels hosted by @juanbg for all posts about the marine world, the #featheredfriends hosted by the lovely @melinda010100 🦢 for all you great posts about our feathered friends and the #fungifriday hosted by the amazing @qwerrie 🍄 for all your posts about fungi and mushrooms ^^ .. But we hope that more nature related communities will join and participate in this gigantic and ambitious nature project, or maybe some Hiveans start their own little project there ;)

AMAZING NATURE COMMUNITY

AQUATIC SENTINELS COMMUNITY

FEATHERED FRIENDS COMMUNITY

FUNGI LOVERS COMMUNITY

All the communities have their own Moderators using the DNA-Curation service and and the whole AN Moderator Team also are set as DNA-Moderators. This external cross-community curation-service is hoped to raise awareness of the DNA project to Hiveans out there and aims to bring all the great nature-related communities together to help all the nature-loving Hiveans to bond together ^^

If you are INTERESTED in DNA, please do not hesitate to ask about it, or directly JOIN US in the DNA DISCORD ;)
