When I tried a realistic painting with watercolours... |Drawing Ellie - complete process(final post)

It is easy to create cartoons style painting with a little dramatic colours using watercolours. It suits well for that kind of drawings no matter if it is a human or animal portrait or even a landscape. But when it comes to making realistic painting using any quality watercolours it requires so much hard work and patience if we want that much perfection.

Unlike these oil paints or acrylic colours can offer you much more easy way for creating realistic paintings. Its brightness retaining ability and opaque feature makes it more suitable for that kind of drawings. I am telling this because I tried both for making such paintings and as I expected water colours where so much deviated from my target.

Here is one of my try to make a good looking, realistic type painting of the famous character Ellie from the "Last of us" game series which actually I made more than a month ago, but the bitter truth for me is it turned into a cartoon like painting eventually even I liked its looks in final.

I know there are a lot of great professional artists who makes good realistic paintings using watercolours everyday. But when I tried this was the result I got. I don't know if I could do better with the materials I already have and a good tutorial or suggestions from a good master. But hope its possible.
Even here in this community I had seen many great paintings by good artists.

Here are some of the pictures I captured while I was working on it. I did this to make a post study of my own work and posting here might help me to get more valuable suggestions from artists among you like what I missed, or what I sould have done to make it better.

I am very open for your suggestions in the comments.

You got a 100% vote from me. That's a very rare thing for me to do. I love this painting very much. I can't fully understand why this feels so extra special to me, but it does.
