Such strange customs that seem to have yet created a stability and absence of wars of succession that so define feudalism in the West. The similarity of the Kagan and the Kagan Bek do very much resemble the king and queen in chess. The ritual murder of the Kagan seems unlikely, though, as the Kagan would know he was under sentence of death, and his seclusion would make his departure facile prior to his demise.
Thanks!
