This month has been very busy, between courses, my son's end-of-the-year homework and sewing work, time has passed very quickly until now I realize that the first semester of the year is about to end; Today I am sharing with you one of my most recent sewing projects, it is a sports jumpsuit with side pockets and decorative straps.

Este mes ha sido muy ocupado, entre cursos, la tareas de fin de año escolar de mi hijo y los trabajos de costura el tiempo ha transcurrido muy veloz hasta ahora me doy cuenta que el primer semestre del año está por terminar; hoy comparto con ustedes uno de mis proyectos de costura más reciente, se trata de un mono deportivo con bolsillos laterales y tiras decorativas.
MATERIALS
For this project I used a fabric that curiously is called Piqué, it is very cheap, fresh and easy to sew.

PROCEDURE
Making this jumpsuit is simple, the patterns are marked on the fabric, to save time I folded and faced the fabric right side up, in such a way that I can obtain the two front pieces in a single cut and marked, I also did the back and pockets.

Elaborar este mono es sencillo, se marcan los patrones en la tela, para ahorrar tempo doblé y enfrenté derecho con derecho la tela, de tal forma que pueda obtener las dos piezas delanteras de un solo corte y marcado, igualmente hice con la parte trasera y bolsillos.
Cut the pieces, I face the back and front pieces right with right, with a straight stitch sew the shot and zig zag step to secure the seam.
Cortadas las piezas, enfrento derecho con derecho las piezas traseras y delanteras, con puntada recta coso el tiro y paso zig zag para asegurar la costura.
Once the waist is sewn, I proceed to glue the pockets, for this I measure 7 cm from the waist downwards, taking into account the width of the elastic (3 cm) and that the pocket coincides with the seam of the elastic, I face a piece of the elastic on the right. pocket with the front of the legs, I make two notches at 16 cm that will be the opening of the pocket, then I sew with a straight stitch leaving an allowance of 1 cm.
Cosido el tiro, procedo a pegar los bolsillos, para ello mido 7 cm desde la cintura hacia abajo, tomando en consideración el ancho del elástico (3 cm) y que el bolsillo coincida con la costura del elástico, enfrento por el derecho una pieza del bolsillo con el delantero de las piernas, hago dos piquetes a 16 cm que será la abertura del bolsillo, luego coso con puntada recta dejando margen de 1 cm.
Glued the first cover of the pocket, I make a beveled cut without touching the seam, to form the corner and turn the pocket around, then I repeat at 1 cm and place the other part of the pocket, I close with a straight stitch and zig zag all around the contour and so the pockets are ready.
Pegada la primera tapa del bolsillo, hago un corte bicelado sin tocar la costura, para formar la esquina y voltear el bolsillo, luego repiso a 1 cm y coloco la otra parte del bolsillo, cierro con puntada recta y zig zag por todo el contorno y así están listos los bolsillos.
Then I pin the decorative tape (bias) and sew with straight stitch, this time I decided to use bias; since I found a good offer of this material that adapts very well to the fabric.
Luego sujeto con alfileres la cinta decorativa (sesgo) y coso con puntada recta, en esta ocasión decidí usar sesgo; ya que encontré una buena oferta de este material que se adapta muy bien a la tela.
Next, I face the back and the front, I close the legs with a straight stitch, starting from the center downwards, I do the same with the other leg and then I close the sides taking care that the seam passes 1 cm from the pocket.
Seguidamente enfrento la parte trasera y delantera, cierro las piernas con puntada recta, iniciando desde el centro hacia abajo, de igual forma hago con la otra pierna y luego cierro los laterales cuidando que la costura pase a 1 cm del bolsillo.
The next step is to paste the elastic, I measure the contour and remove the 3/4 parts (52 cm), with a zig zag stitch I paste the elastic on the wrong side of the fabric, leaving approximately 1 cm of fabric, then I double straight stitch and I cut off the excess fabric.
El siguiente paso es pegar el elástico, mido el contorno y saco las 3/4 partes (52 cm), con puntada de zig zag pego el elástico por el revés de la tela dejando aproximadamente 1 cm de tela, luego doblo paso puntada recta y corto el sobrante de tela.
To make the hem I sew a 1 cm hem with a straight stitch and this is how the sports suit is finished.
Para hacer el ruedo coso un dobladilo de 1 cm con puntada recta y así está terminado el mono deportivo.
Finishing this project was very rewarding and I think my nephew will be happy with his new sweatpants, especially on these hot days when it's important to wear cool and comfortable clothing.
Terminar este proyecto fue muy gratificante y creo que mi sobrino estará feliz con su nuevo pantalón deportivo, especialmente en esto días calurosos en los cuales es importante usar ropa cómoda y fresca.
