Greetings to all members of this wonderful community, this is my first post over here and I want to thank you beforehand for reading.
One of the things I enjoy doing that most is customizing t-shirts with bleach, there are several different ways to achieve different styles. On this occasion I decided to turn a croptop I don't wear anymore into an oversized t-shirt for my daughter. So after I adjusted the sizing a bit I started to customize it.
We usually dress in a more "alternative" style, so I used a more grunge style for the finish, this is the list of materials I used:
-A pair of gloves.
-Cotton T-shirt.
-Old sponge.
-Acetate sheet.
-Permanent marker.
-Bleach.
-Plastic cup.
-Cutter.
Un saludo a toda esta maravillosa comunidad, esta es mi primera publicación por acá y de antemano les doy las gracias por leerme. Una de las cosas que mas me gusta hacer es customizar camisetas con cloro, existen varias técnicas para lograr distintos estilos y acabados. En esta oportunidad decidí convertir un croptop mío que ya hace mucho dejé de usar, en una camiseta oversize para mí hija. Así que luego de ajustar las medidas un poco me dispuse a personalizarla.Por lo general vestimos de manera más "alternativa", así que decidí emplear un estilo más grunge para el acabado, estos son los materiales que utilicé:
-Un par de guantes.-Camiseta de algodón.-Esponja vieja.-Lámina de acetato.-Rotulador.-Cloro.-Envase de plástico.-Cúter.
The first thing is to find a ventilated place and remove all objects we don't want to stain or damage. We are going to draw over the acetate the design we want to stamp, in my case a big heart, we have to keep in mind the appropriate size so it fits perfectly, if we don't have acetate we can use an old x-ray.
Lo primero es ubicarse en un sitio ventilado y retirar objetos que no queramos manchar. Sobre el acetato vamos a dibujar el diseño a estampar, en mi caso un corazón grande, hay que tener en cuenta el tamaño deseado para que encaje perfectamente, si no disponemos de acetato se puede utilizar una radiografía vieja.
After finishing the drawing we proceed to carefully cutting and we should have our perfect stencil done.
Luego de tener el dibujo terminado procedemos a cortar cuidadosamente con el cúter y ya tendremos lista la plantilla.
Now we lay our t-shirt on a flat surface, it should be ideally cotton or at least with the higher percentage of cotton in it's blend. This is easily verifiable on their tags. I used a 97% cotton shirt.
Ahora procedemos a extender la camiseta sobre una superficie plana, lo ideal es que se trate de una prenda de algodón o con el mayor porcentaje de algodón que podamos encontrar. Esto lo podemos verificar fácilmente en la etiqueta. Yo he utilizado una prenda de 97% algodón.
After our t-shirt is been placed, we put the stencil over in the area we want the design to be in, if this is the first time trying the technique I recommend making a simple drawing instead of a very intricate design. And since it is an acetate sheet we will be able to reuse it as many times as we want.
Luego de haber extendido la camiseta, procedemos a ubicar la plantilla sobre ella en el área en el que deseamos estampar el diseño, si es la primera vez probando ésta técnica recomiendo realizar un dibujo simple y no complicarnos mucho con la plantilla. Y al ser de acetato podremos reutilizarla las veces que queramos.
Now we pour a small amount of bleach in the plastic cup, and we soak the sponge in it before pressing gently over the stencil. In case we want a more polished finish we substitute the sponge for a bottle with an atomizer and spray the bleach that way.
Ahora vertemos una pequeña cantidad de cloro en el envase de plástico, y empapamos la esponja para ir presionando delicadamente sobre la plantilla. En caso de querer un acabado mas prolijo sustituimos la esponja por un envase con atomizador y aplicamos el cloro de esa manera.
When using a sponge what I do is to press gently over the stencil, remove the stencil immediately and then retouch directly with the sponge where I think it's needed.
Con la técnica de la esponja lo que hago es presionar suavemente sobre la plantilla, y retiro la plantilla inmediatamente para luego retocar con la esponja sobre las áreas en las que lo considere necesario.
Using the big heart I cutters out of the first stencil I decided to make a smaller one to stamp on the sides.
Con el corazón grande que he recortado de la primera plantilla decidí hacer uno más pequeño para estampar hacia los lados.
Now we let it dry completely, my favorite part is to watch the drawing slowly appear.
Ahora dejamos secar por completo, mi parte favorita es ver como van apareciendo lentamente los dibujos.
When it's dried out we should wash it thoroughly before we can actually wear it, I washed it by hand to avoid staining with bleach the rest of my laundry, and I sundried it.
Luego de que ha secado la prenda debemos lavarla antes de poder utilizarla, yo la he lavado a mano para evitar manchar con cloro el resto de mi ropa, y la he dejado secar al sol.
And this is how it turned out, and this is how it looks on my exclusive model 😂♥️.
Y así es como ha quedado finalmente, y así se ve en mi modelo exclusiva 😂♥️.
It is very easy to do, and it is one of the many techniques we can use. The bleach can also be diluted in water in order to achieve different shades and intensities in more elaborate designs that require them. Every time I have the opportunity I make a new one, my dad's old t-shirts, or any of my clothes that have ended up stained somehow and decide I want to give them another chance. Es muy fácil de hacer, y es una de varias técnicas que se pueden utilizar. También se puede diluir el cloro en agua para lograr diferentes matices e intensidades en diseños más elaborados que así lo requieran. Cada vez que tengo la oportunidad hago una nueva, camisetas viejas de papá, o alguna prenda mía que termine manchada de algún modo y decida darle una nueva vida. Es sólo cuestión de práctica.
