Hello dear artisan friends and artists who make life in our Hivediy community, today I want to briefly share with you a costume that I made for my little daughter since today she had a Carnival parade at school. This work was improvised since the teacher told us at the last minute about our daughter's participation and what the costume reason would be, she had to be a beetle that belongs to a story. With very little time I got to work dividing the responsibilities with her mother, she was in charge of the clothes and I was in charge of the accessories. I want to briefly share with you how the wings were constructed, I hope you like it.
Hola queridos amigos artesanos y artistas que hacen vida en nuestra comunidad Hivediy, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes brevemente un disfraz que hice para mi pequeña hija ya que hoy tenía desfile de Carnaval en la escuela. Este trabajo fue improvisado ya que la maestra nos avisó a último momento de la participación de nuestra hija y cual sería el motivo disfraz, le tocaba ser un escarabajo que pertenece a un cuento. con muy poco tiempo puse las manos a la obra dividiendo las responsabilidades con su mamá, ella se encargó de la ropa y yo me encargué de los accesorios. Quiero compartir con ustedes brevemente como fue la construcción de las alas, espero les guste.

The main accessory is to make some wings, I am not very expert in doing this type of making these pieces, but after seeing so many examples I took the initiative to make my own design, I wanted it to be a little cartoon style. So, the material to use is cardboard, which I took from a TV box, disassembled it and took out the parts that I was going to use. As usual, when using the cardboard I cannot miss the company of my cat, and regardless of whether I am using it, she simply lies down to take a break. However, I take the parts that I use and begin to outline with a pencil the templates that I will use for the wings.
El accesorio principal costa de hacer unas alas, no soy muy experto en hacer esta clase de hacer estas piezas, peor luego de ver tantos ejemplos tomé la iniciativa de hacer mi propio diseño, quería que quedara un poco estilo caricaturas. Entonces, el material a utilizar es el cartón, el cual saqué de una caja de Tv, la desarmé y fui sacando las partes que iba a utilizar. Como es costumbre, al utilizar el cartón no puede faltar la compañía de mi gata, y sin importar si lo estoy utilizando, ella simplemente se acuesta a tomar un descanso, sin embargo, tomo las partes que utilizo y comienzo a delimitar con un lápiz las plantillas que usaré para las alas.

I started to draw with the pencil on the cardboard the shape that the wings would have, first of all I started to draw several models, to see which one was going to look best with the costume, after several attempts in the end I started to draw the wings that had shapes of raindrops, so I started drawing that circular shape, both for the wings and also a support to place them on. After that I was going to start cutting to put them together.
Me puse a dibujar con el lápiz encima de los cartones la forma que tendrían las alas, en primer lugar me puse a dibujar varios modelos, para ver cual iba a lucir mejor con el disfraz, después de vario intentos al final comencé a dibujar las alas que tuvieran formas de gotas de lluvia, así que fui dibujando esa forma circular, tanto para las alas como así también un soporte donde colocarlas. Después de eso iba a comenzar a cortar para armarlas.

I began to cut little by little, since this box was for a TV, these boxes are well made, I mean they come with double cardboard, to protect the product. When I started to cut the cardboard I made the first wing, but it was damaged, the edge of the knife was very sharp and it went over my hand, damaging the cardboard. I had to draw another one and this time with much more care I was able to complete both wings.
Comencé a cortar poco a poco, como esta caja era de un TV, estas cajas vienen bien hechas, me refiero a que traen cartón doble, para proteger el producto. Al comenzar a cortar el cartón hice la primera ala, pero esta se me estropeo, el filo de la navaja estaba muy fuerte y se me paso la mano dañando el cartón. tuve que dibujar otra y esta vez si con mucho mas cuidado pude completar ambas alas.

After making the cuts I had to assemble the main pieces, to support the wings, I didn't want everything to be in one piece, but I wanted there to be a certain separation, so under the wings I put some cardboard strips that served as separators, and in that same place I put the glue to join both pieces and make it very firm.
Luego de hacer los cortes me tocó armar las piezas principales, para le soporte de las alas, no quería que me quedara todo en una sola pieza, sino que quería que hubiera cierta separación, así que debajo de las alas les puse unas tiras de cartón que sirvieran como separadores, y en ese mismo lugar puse el pegamento para unir ambas piezas y que quedara muy firme.

Then I made a mixture of acrylic paint to decorate, but first added some limbs to the wings to complete the beetle accessory. I tried to mix the paint with a different tone so that it wasn't just brown. After finishing painting I let it dry very well, but not before also letting the glue dry well. Finally I made some antennas, I made these out of cardboard on a plastic headband, for which I also added brown thread so that it looked the same as the clothes.
Después hice una mezcla de pintura acrilica para decorar, no si antes agregarle unas extreminades a las alas para completar el accesorio de escarabajo. La mezcla de pintura trate de darle un tono diferente para que no solo fuera de color marrón. Luego de terminar de pintar dejé secar muy bien, no sin antes también haber dejado que el pegamento secara bien. Por último hice unas antenas, estas las hice de cartón sobre un cintillo de plástico, para lo cual también le puse hilo de color marrón para que se viera igual que la ropa.
Earlier today was the parade, and that's how it turned out, it was a team effort hehe, everyone did their bit, including my daughter contributing her ideas. The parade was very nice because we could enjoy the other children's costumes, which were very creative, full of bright colors. It could be seen that the children were helped by their parents in a great way and the parade was done very well. I hope you liked it, this was outside of my usual jobs, but if there is something I like, it is getting involved in my daughter's education and projects, working together. Hoy temprano fue el desfile, y así fue como quedó, fue un trabajo ene quipo jeje cada quien puso su granito de arena, incluida mi hija aportando sus ideas. El desfile estuvo muy bonito porque s epudo disfrutar de los disfraces de los demás niños los cuales estaban muy creativos, llenos de colores llamativos. Se pudo ver que los niños fueron ayudados por sus padres de una gran manera y el desfile se pudo hacer muy bien. Espero que les haya gustado, esto estuvo fuera de mis trabajos habituales, pero si hay algo que me gusta es involucrarme en la educaicón y proyectos de mi hija, trabajar juntos.
