Hello all my dear friends! I hope you are having a wonderful season. Today I want to share with you a very special project: a wooden carved necklace with the Pisces zodiac symbol. The last sign of the zodiac is a water sign ruled by Neptune. It is said that Pisces are intuitive, sensitive and compassionate people, with a great connection with the emotional world. Its symbol, two fish swimming in opposite directions, represents the duality of human nature and the ability to adapt to different situations. This unique piece that represents the connection with our own intuition and sensitivity. In the next post, I invite you to follow me in the process of creating this necklace. I will show you step by step how I transformed a piece of wood into this beautiful piece, from the selection of the wood to the last detail, let's get started!
¡Hola a todos mis queridos amigos! Espero que se encuentren de maravilla temporada. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un proyecto muy especial: un collar tallado en madera con el símbolo del zodiaco Piscis. El último signo del zodíaco, es un signo de agua regido por Neptuno. Se dice que los piscianos son personas intuitivas, sensibles y compasivas, con una gran conexión con el mundo emocional. Su símbolo, dos peces nadando en direcciones opuestas, representa la dualidad de la naturaleza humana y la capacidad de adaptarse a diferentes situaciones. Esta pieza única que representa la conexión con nuestra propia intuición y sensibilidad. En el próximo post, los invito a seguirme en el proceso de creación de este collar. Once I had the wood in my hands, I proceeded to carefully prepare it. First, I cut a piece of mahogany to a suitable size and lightly sanded it to remove any imperfections and prepare it for carving. Next, I traced a square with rounded corners on the surface of the wood. This would be the basic outline of my piece. With the help of a cutter, I carefully cut the corners of the wood to give them their characteristic rounded shape. Next, I used fine grit sandpaper to smooth the edges and remove any chips or imperfections. The piece of wood was ready to receive the design I had in mind.
Una vez que tuve la madera en mis manos, procedí a prepararla cuidadosamente. Primero, corté un trozo de caoba de tamaño adecuado y lo lijé suavemente para eliminar cualquier imperfección y prepararlo para el tallado. Luego, tracé un cuadrado con las esquinas redondeadas en la superficie de la madera. Este sería el contorno básico de mi pieza. Con la ayuda de un cúter, corté cuidadosamente las esquinas de la madera para darles su forma redondeada característica. Luego, utilicé papel de lija de grano fino para suavizar los bordes y eliminar cualquier astilla o imperfección. La pieza de madera estaba lista para recibir el diseño que tenía en mente.

I explored various designs on the web, I wanted to find one that was consistent with the piece I had cut at the beginning. However, the designs I found did not satisfy me, they required a lot of complexity to draw on the wood and also more special tools to carve and achieve a better result. So I chose to take one of the best-known symbols, which are the two minimalist-style fish, so I drew them little by little on the wood simply with a pencil.
Exploré por la web varios diseños, quería encontrar uno que estuviera acorde a la pieza que había cortado al principio, Sin embargo los diseños que encontraba no me satisfacían, demandaban mucha complejidad para dibujar encima de la madera y también herramientas más especiales para tallar y lograr un mejor resultado. Así que opté por tomar uno de los símbolos más conocidos que son los dos peces estilo minimalista, así que los dibujé poco a poco encima de la madera simplemente con un lápiz.

For the carving I used a very fine-bladed knife with a rounded tip. When this knife is plunged into the wood, the carving is as if I were making a channel. So throughout the drawing that I did previously I pass the blade over and over again, especially with great care in the parts that are curved, since the wood is very soft it is easy for the blade to follow another direction and damage the piece.
Para el tallado utilicé una cuchilla de hoja muy fina con la punta redondeada, esta cuchilla al hundirla en la madera, el tallado queda como si estuviera haciendo un canal. Así que por todo el dibujo que hioce anterior mente voy pasando la cuchilla una y otra vez, especialmente con mucho cuidado en las partes que son curvas, al ser la madera muy suave es fácil que la cuchilla siga otro rumbo y se estropee la pieza.

Once the Pisces symbol was carefully carved, I set about polishing the piece with great care. I started with coarse grit sandpaper to remove any remaining imperfections and then gradually progressed to finer grit sandpaper. Paying close attention to the carving, I ensured that every line and curve was clean and uniform, smooth to the touch and visually defined. Finally, I dipped the piece in a bath of gloss varnish. This treatment not only provided a radiant shine and a more intense color to the wood, but also created a protective layer that will ensure the durability of the piece over time.
Una vez que el símbolo de Piscis estuvo cuidadosamente tallado, me dediqué a pulir la pieza con sumo cuidado. Comencé con una lija de grano grueso para eliminar cualquier imperfección restante y luego fui progresando gradualmente a lijas de grano más fino. Prestando especial atención al tallado, me aseguré de que cada línea y curva quedara limpia y uniforme, suave al tacto y visualmente definida. Finalmente, sumergí la pieza en un baño de barniz brillante. Este tratamiento no solo aportó un brillo radiante y un color más intenso a la madera, sino que también creó una capa protectora que garantizará la durabilidad de la pieza a lo largo del tiempo.

Their calendar was based on lunar and solar cycles, and they associated each month with a constellation. Nowadays, the zodiac has undergone many changes due to new cultures and ways of thinking, beyond the superstitious, I like symbols and their meaning, and I think the sign Pisces is very beautiful. Qué les parece el final? Sabían ustedes que Los babilonios, hace más de 3000 años, fueron los primeros en dividir el cielo en 12 constelaciones, dando origen a los signos zodiacales?. Su calendario se basaba en los ciclos lunares y solares, y asociaron cada mes con una constelación. Hoy en la actualidad, el zodíaco a sufrido muchos cambios por nuevas culturas y modo de pensar, más allá de lo supersticioso, a mi me gustan los símbolos y su significado, y me parece que el signo Piscis es muy bello. Esto ha sido todo por ahora, como siempre ha sido un gusto para mi poder compartir, no me quiero despedir sin antes invitar a mis amigos @creacioneslelys @ibarra95 @lauracraft para que participen con sus grandes creaciones!
